Will Power Man Be Contractually Required To Wear Old Spice In His Movie Debut???

This is a funny story. Isaiah Mustafa, the guy from the awesome 'Old Spice' commercials ("look... I'm on a horse") has it in his head that he wants to play Luke Cage (Power Man) in a big screen version of the Marvel Comic. While there has been some talk of giving Cage a shot for a solo feature, rumors are that Idris Elba might get the nod. Elba was cast in 'Thor' as Heimdall the Gatekeeper and he absolutely killed it. Judging by the way Marvel likes to dig back through their older movies for stars on their newer projects, I was leaning towards Elba for Cage as well. So who will be the "Hero for Hire" on the big screen?

It looks like Mustafa ain't waiting around to lose the role to Elba, who already has a foot through the door. Mustafa put together this faux trailer for a Power Man movie and it looks pretty cool. Take a look for yourself:

Now that's how you go after it!!! I would have liked Mustafa to look a bit bigger (Cage is gigantic), but that can probably be fixed with some CGI. My only beef is that he should have wore the silver headpiece from the vintage (70's/80's) Cage comics.

I know Luke Cage isn't rocking that look anymore, but Mustafa would have score major points with Quesada and the gang over at Marvel. Who do you think Power Man should be? Tell us in the comment section below.

Sharks In A Supermarket??? Yes Please!!!!

Yeah, I just typed that... I can't believe it either. Here is the trailer for Bait, starring Julian McMahon & Xavier Samuel. You NEED to watch this.

Here is the synopsis... I have no words:
In a sleepy beach community shoppers at an underground supermarket are terrorized by a crazed bandit when the unimaginable occurs: A monstrous freak tsunami swallows the town. Now trapped, with rushing water threatening to entomb them in a watery grave the survivors discover they are not alone. The tsunami has brought unwanted visitors from the depths. Not only must they overcome the threat of drowning and the predator within their midst, but a threat far more deadly and far more bloodthirsty – hungry great white sharks.
Yeah... I'm down. I watch enough shitty movies that may sound good and end up terrible. I can't wait to watch a film about sharks in a FUCKING SUPERMARKET!!!! I'll let you know after I watch, but I think I got my new favorite movie!!!! We're gonna need a bigger frozen food aisle!!!

Evan Rachel Wood Takes It Off For Marilyn....

... Manson that is! Manson and everyone's favorite vampire queen were an item  for a long time, and Manson snapped some of these photos at a home shoot. Now this is what I am talking about. If I was rich, these are the kind of hobbies I would have. Fuck flying planes, doing drugs, and all that shit... I'll be an amateur photographer for hotties that I am banging all day. Here are the photos... be careful, they are Not Safe For Work due to nipples!!!

2 Pigs In A Pod

I absolutely love this drawing of a romantic evening between Miss Piggy and a Gamorrean guard from Return of the Jedi. Aren't these two perfect for each other?

Alan Rickman Shows Why He Is One Of My Favorite Actors Ever

I have loved Alan Rickman ever since I first saw him as a Hans Gruber in Die Hard. He has gone on to make some amazing movies, from playing the voice of God Metatron in Dogma to The Sheriff of Nottingham in Costner's Robin Hood. But for the last 10 years he has forged a career as Severus Snape, teacher of a little wizard by the name of Harry Potter. For a generation of kids who grew up on the Potter books and movies, Snape (and therefore Rickman) will always be in their hearts as a truly conflicted character who is quite complicated and just as important to the story as Harry himself. With the last Potter movie almost upon release, Rickman recognizes just how important this role has been and he took out a full page advertisement in Empire Magazine to say goodbye to the Harry Potter franchise and a big Thank You to author JK Rowling. A classy gesture from a classy man. Here it is for your enjoyment:

The Hangover + The Muppets = Danny Trejo

Wait.....what?

The most telling and exciting thing about this teaser, is that it's a spoof of, and is going to be running in front of "The Hangover Part II." A trailer, for a Muppet movie, before a hard R rated movie. That's of course not to say that I'm expecting it to be "Meet The Feebles" but it does speak to the audience they are selling this movie to and the confidence they have in it.

Can we hope to have more movie specific teasers throughout the summer as we build towards "The Muppets?" Perhaps Harry Potter and Captain America style Muppet teasers!

Man there are going to be a lot of celebrities in this thing eh? Not too much more footage than the last teaser. Some shots of an apparently dilapidated Muppet Theater. Not used in quite some time as evidenced by the Rubik's Cube on the desk. Looks like maybe Kermit's old office judging by the line of banjos adorning the wall.

I love all the quotes and their respective sources. I would totally subscribe to "This Week Monthly."

How Come I Have Never Seen This?

Check out this really cool cover of 'The Incredible Hulk Vol #2 Issue #49' by the magnificent comic cover artist Kaare Andrews. This came out back in 2003 when I was on a hiatus from the comic industry, so that's why I must have missed it. You gotta love the 'Where The Wild Things Are' ideals that The Hulk has always displayed... the delicate balance between the large monster, that the Hulk is, and the much smaller but, more intelligent Max/David Banner holding them in check. Great cover. Hope you enjoy:

Boba Tea by Joby Cummings

I love me some Bubble Tea, so why not try some Boba Tea... with special carbonite balls at the bottom!!! Joby Cummings really had a great idea with this one. Check out the rest of his work, you will love it!

Possible Wolverine Sequel Directors And Pseudo "Tease Trailer"

This current status of the new Wolverine is completely up in the air. The franchise is still viable and the studio has already invested in it, so it's going to happen. I've bemoaned the more recent developments, and as much as I disliked the last film and the departure of Aronofsky, there's a secret part of me that wants to see this movie. Still buried deep within me I want another Wolverine movie with Hugh Jackman. I want Wolverine Japan goddammit!

I keep hoping there will be some announcement of a crazy awesome left field Director like Clint Eastwood or The Cohen Brothers.....a boy can dream can't he!!??

Apparently the studio is eying eight potential Directors. In all their lackluster glory they are...

Justin Lin: Annapolis, The Fast and the Furious films.

Doug Liman: Swingers, GO, The Bourne Identity, Mr. & Mrs. Smith, Jumper, Fair Game.

Antoine Fuqua: Training Day, Tears of the Sun, King Arthur, Shooter and Brooklyn's Finest.

James Mangold: Walk the Line, 3:10 to Yuma, Knight & Day.

Mark Romanek: One Hour Photo, Never Let Me Go.

Gavin O’Connor: Miracle, Warrior.

Jose Padilha: Elite Squad the upcoming RoboCop remake(blech)

Gary Shore: A bunch of commercials.

bllllleeeeeeeaaaarrgggghhhhh

None of these choices are very inspired. Of them I guess Mark Romanek is my favorite, but having such limited credits he'll likely just end up being the studios bitch. The rest of them are talented enough Directors, and I've enjoyed some of their films. But even guys like Doug Liman and Jame Mangolds have crapped out flicks "Jumper" and "Knight & Day." That's exactly the type of bland studio fare that the first movie was, and what I don't want this one to be.

Why couldn't it have been Aronofsky? WHY!? DAMN YOU ALL!!!!

BERZERKER RAGE!!!
...

Somewhat interesting is the last name. Gary Shore. Obviously we don't know him as a commercial Director. But apparently this young Director put together a little fan film teaser to a Wolverine sequel a few months ago. Whether it was an attempt to get some attention who knows, but I have to say it is pretty damn cool.

Fighting For The Controller by Nina Matsumoto

Check out this wonderful commission from Nina Matsumoto for Gamdeals, a video game store in Vancouver. They wanted a sign for their store, so this is what she came up with. Can you name them all??? Do it in the comment section below. Not bad.... also, she has an all villain version coming soon for another location of the franchise. Stay tuned.

Britney + Rhianna + Fetish Costumes = Boner

I did not watch the Billboard Music awards on Sunday because of my nerd obligations to watch Game of Thrones and because I was sleeping off our first Comic Con weekend. With that being said, I saw a few pics of Rhianna's performance of 'S & M' that featured her in a white unitard and white knee high boots grinding the floor and also featured a special drop in by Britney Spears (in an all black getup and looking surprisingly hot!) and I felt compelled to investigate further.

Well thanks to geek code, I am obliged to share this clip with you. Watch it... an tell me you are not bonerific in seconds at the thought of being in the middle of this pop star sandwich:

Your Welcome.... enjoy the rest of your day!!!

This Is What NBC Deprived Us Of.... BASTARDS!!!!

Son of a Bitch (Arnold Voice)... why couldn't you just give us a few short episodes? Cancel it after 6 or so... I don't give a fuck. There are so many crap shows that get green lit every season, would it have been terrible to take a shot on this one? Especially since they decided to get rid of the pants and put Adrianne Palicki in these underwear... er, I mean hot pants. See for yourself:

God damn she is fine!!!! I totally acknowledge that this show would have probably been a turd of epic proportions, but now I gotta wait a few months before the pilot episode leaks online and I can see this thoroughbred chasing criminals through the street in her Victoria Secrets. NBC, you guys suck the big one.

On a side note, I don't want to speculate on whether or not this had anything to do with NBC not picking up the pilot, but maybe casting that creepy bald guy from Weird Science and The Hills Have Eyes may have spooked some people a bit. Look at the freaky bald head, its horrifying. Wait, what? That's not him? That's just another freaky bald man looking straight at the camera but planning Palicki's imminent abduction. Oh..... er, sorry. Moving right along....

Breakdown of "The Muppets" Teaser Trailer

OkOkOkOkOkOkOk.......Muppets.

It's time to get things started.

By now you've seen the sneaky little teaser for the new Muppet movie. If not...

I tell ya, as much as I love living in the future, one of the real drawbacks is not getting surprised. As much as I love this trailer, I watched it knowing the Muppets were going to show up. I can just imagine myself as a kid, pre-interwebs, sitting in a theater and that thing coming on and totally catching me off guard. Would have blown my monkeylovin mind.

Blah blah blah I'm old and everything is terrible now, ANYWAY. It's a very cute and fun little campaign they have going on (there's a Facebook) and I'm sure a good number of less nerdy people were well surprised.

Can you spot the hidden Kermit?

So I've watched the trailer about 486 times now, combing it for hidden Easter eggs and the like (I have NO IDEA why I'm never surprised anymore) and here's what I came up with...

If I had a teacher like Amy Adams maybe I.......eh...still wouldn't have cared.
Amy Adams is apparently teaching an elementary school class on auto repair. Specifically auto repair of the classic Morris Minor........reasonable. The full sized classic car in her classroom is reminiscent of many vehicles from the classic trilogy, most notably perhaps the one sold by Milton Berle for $11.95.

Jason and Amy look to be having a date at Grauman's Chinese Theater, which appears to be showing one of my favorites, Disney's "20,000 Leagues Under The Sea," 'The mightiest motion picture of them all!' Let's hope Lew Zealand is working there and doing his famous 3-D conversion.

Kermit can be seen in the background here. Rightfully adorning the cover of GQ. Kermit's house perhaps?

Let's see some Muppets already eh? We get a good look at a bunch of the old favorites, with a few of the new characters. Thog is the giant blue elephant thing, and the new Muppet I'm the most excited about. He looks great, he's like twice the size of Sweetums! There's also a random pig who looks like she might be black in some of the shots. If rumors are true she is some kind of replacement Miss Piggy in Fozzie's recreation attempt, 'The Moopets.' Looks like they are in some kind of talent agency or something here. Based on the picture on the desk I think that's Rashida Jones sitting there. Too bad it's not Dr. Beverly Crusher.

A big giant musical number in Hollywood shows a banner featuring the original Muppet man, Jim Henson himself.

HELP there's a guys hand in my...
Walter appears to be the main protagonist alongside Segel's character. I'm always a little wary about new additions to large established ensembles, but it's The Muppets so they get the benefit of the doubt. The first few looks we got of the puppet were pretty boring and generic looking, but a few shots in this teaser show it to be a pretty great looking design with a large range of emotion possible. Just look at that face, hilarity incarnate! Note the Kermit t-shirt, he's obviously a fan.

If Kermit pops his head up from under the table I'm going to be very..."upset."
There's been a lot of fuss made about Piggy's Gaga-esque hair here....who cares. She's sporting her trademark ring, and if I had to guess this is her apartment based on the photos of herself in the background. Hard to tell by the window shot where it is exactly, but it certainly appears to be luxurious as is fitting. Donuts!

Looks like The Great Gonzo is ready to treat us to some of his trademark daredevil antics. Camilla seems to be wearing some kind of outfit here. Chickens wearing clothes? Now that's just ridiculous. Gonzo is performed and voiced in this movie by the legendary Dave Goelz, as he has been for the last 40+ years.

Several shots in the teaser give us a clear indication that the set of the original Muppet Show has been painstakingly recreated. Paint chips, curtain colors, wear and tear all look right out of the 70's. There had been talk that part of the plot revolved around them trying to save the 'Muppet Theater,' but it wasn't immediately clear what exactly that was going to be. The fact that it is THE theater from the show is phenomenal. This type of attention and heart is a big reason I'm looking forward to this update.

Gonzo's Royal Flush? Awesome. Fleeing from an impending explosion? Has he been operating a plumbing company in the last 12 years?

How bout some more Muppets! This looks like a big musical number featuring loads of characters. Some of which I had to look up! Droop, Marvin Suggs, Lew Zealand, Bobby Benson, Beaker, Dr. Honeydew, Scooter, Swedish Chef, Fozzie, Kermit, Miss Piggy, Sam Eagle, Beauregard, Link Hogthrob, Beautiful Day Monster, and Dr. Julius Strangepork. Several of these characters have not appeared in anything in over 30 years. I can't wait to see how many classic puppets they're recreated. The stage looks to be right from The Muppet Show along with the famous Dr. Teeth drum kit. Kermit's got his banjo...Rainbow Connection maybe?

The more recent Muppet outings featured The Muppets as actors. They were playing parts in Christmas Carol, Treasure Island etc. I was tired of seeing them paraded out in different costumes. The Muppets don't need to play other characters, they are the characters and at their strongest and most focused they are vaudevillian. They are song and dance men ready to put on a show. That might be why I love those older movies and the show the most. It was The Muppets as The Muppets being The Muppets.

JediRob has been ready and willing for Muppet Domination for decades.
