Where Have The Muppets Been for The Last 12 Years???

The crew over at The National Post wondered what The Muppets have been doing with themselves over the past 12 years since their last big screen venture. Turns out they were quite busy auditioning for some of the movie roles we all know and love... wish they would have gotten some of 'em!!! Click after the jump to see this awesome compilation of faux Polaroid head shots...

Aliens On Ice... Yup, I Just Typed That

Check out this glorious two minutes of footage from a production of Aliens On Ice put on by The Old Murder House Theater Troupe out of Austin, Texas. Get These Muppet Movies Made!!!!

Wow... wow. I have come across a few of these proposed movie posters from the gang over at The Old Red Jalopy for movies featuring the Muppets that I would love to see, but since they are so good I felt the need to share them all with you guys here at CCD. Not only are the ideas great, but the Photoshop skills exhibited in creating these posters are amazing!!! Which one is your favorite? The X-Men Get The CHIBI Treatment

In the Marvel Universe… how can the humans hate Mutants? Look how adorable they look. Check out Ivan Camelot portrays our favorite Mutant characters in his own Chibi style. See the X-men Chibis after the jump… and you can view more of Ivan's brilliant artwork here.

Sometimes The Title Card Sets The Whole Tone For A Movie

I have been a huge fan of the Harry Potter series ever since it was just words on a page... and to be perfectly honest with you, I feel the film adaptions are about as good as they could possibly get. They are pitch perfect and get a ton of the details right. The cast is great and the movies look beautiful. But it seems like the devil is indeed in the details. Warner Brothers, the producing company of the film series, adapted their well known title card at the beginning of each of the eight Harry Potter films to properly reflected the mood/tone of the movies as they progressed. As anyone who is a fan of the series knows, it got a whole lot darker... check out this cool compilation of all 8 title cards after the jump!!!

Fear & Loathing On Tatooine by Anton Marras

Luke as Hunter S? I'm not so sure that the young Jedi prince could fill the role... but I would love to have seen Obi Wan as Hunter's despicable lawyer!!! This is a dope mash-up from artist Anton Marras, keep up the good work, this one came out great!!! Click after the jump for the full sized piece...

John Carter Gets An Official Poster... I Promptly Faint!!!

I got into the John Carter of Mars books by Edgar Rice Burrough's kind of late in the game... I started reading them about three years ago and once I did, I couldn't stop. Given the fact that they were over 80 years old and supposedly the inspiration behind most of the Sci-Fi classics I love, I figured I should give it a shot. Boy was I glad that I did. each book was better than the previous, and after I finished the saga all i could wonder was why nobody had taken a crack at this franchise as a big budget feature. Come to find out, Disney was on the fast track to get it done. With a pretty solid cast (Taylor Kitsch, Lynn Collins, Willem Dafoe, Mark Strong, Bryan Cranston, Dominic West, and Thomas Hayden Church) and the power of the House of Mouse behind it, I have pretty high hopes for this one. This poster hearkens back to the old pulp novel covers that the movie is based on, so I'm even more pumped for it. John Carter hits theaters on March 9th, 2012.... Click after the jump for the full poster.

5 Reasons To Watch 'Alcatraz' This January

We are reaching the point in that fall TV schedule when shows go on mid-season hiatus and networks bring in mid-season replacements for shows that under performed (only 3 episodes for Charlies Angels & Playboy Club... really???). One of the most anticipated mid-season additions is 'Alcatraz', the new show from uber genius JJ Abrams. The first official teaser trailer (30 seconds... C'MON!!!) has leaked and it has piqued my interest... so here are 5 reasons why I think you should give the show a shot come January. Click after the jump for the list and an embedded version of the trailer...

The Island by Jayson Weidel

You know how much we love us some Lost over here at CCD, so whenever I come across a stunning piece of fan art based on the show I have to post it up. This masterpiece comes from artist Jayson Weidel and features those good old rivals Jack & Locke. I think it is beautiful... click after the jump to see the piece full sized.

Welcome To The World Of Skyrim by Edson Melendez

Note: This isn’t a full review as I have only played about 12 36 52 hours of Skyrim,  I’m nowhere near the end

I have been a fan of The Elder Scrolls since the first release of Arena in 1994 on the PC and the subsequent releases Daggerfall, Morrowind and more recently Oblivion, so when Bethesda announced Skyrim I was obviously excited. I can now say that everything I expected for the game was answered and more.
Each Elder Scrolls game follows a unique story set in the world of Tamriel. Skyrim which is the furthest north most continent is home to the Nords a Viking type culture steeped in tradition ritual and lore as are all the races in this world. You play as the “Dovakiin” or Dragon-Born a person who has the soul of a Dragon.

Daniel Morpheus Shows Us What A Justice League Movie Might Look Like...

Lets face it... now is a great time to be  a comic geek/movie fan. Marvel finally got their shit together & has been killing the movie market over the last 5 years leading up to next summers compilation blockbuster "The Avengers". It is going to be epic. While DC has been able to make some great animated features and Batman is doing great, the rest of the companies forays into film have not gone so well. Will we ever get a team movie starring the Justice League? I doubt it. But artist Daniel Morpheus has given us a sneak peak on what this movie could possibly look like, using comic artist Frank Quietly's original team drawing as inspiration. Check out his awesome cast choices for the other team members that have yet to make a silver screen debut. Both a comparison shot and the full piece are available after the jump.

What Are You Thankful For: Superhero Toy Edition

It's Just Some Random Guy has made some great videos in the past (click here to view his Youtube channel) featuring Marvel & DC Comic character toys... some of them are down right hysterical. But this year Random Guy decided to check in on some comic book heavyweights and ask them exactly what they are thankful for. The result is a pretty fun filled clip. Click after the jump for the video...

Mick Minouge Creates A 'Drive' Inspired Version Of Operation... Baby Goose FTW!!!!

I can't get enough Baby Goose, aka Ryan Gosling, in my life. I have always liked him as an actor... even back to his teen age "Murder By Numbers" days. The kid just had something about him. But in the last few years he is really jumping into the role of full blown movie star, and the culmination of this had to be his epic performance in 'Drive'. I thought 'Drive ' was one of the better movies this past year, and from the amount of fan art based on Gosling's character lots of artists feel the same way. Need proof? Check out this very original redux of the classic board game 'Operation' by artists Mike Minogue, but instead of your classic patient you have to remove items related to the movie from Mr. Gosling's body. Artin' It Up with Tommy Lombardozzi: Thanksgiving Muppet Edition

Hey folks! Tommy here. I've missed you all. Anyway...

In celebration of the new MUPPETS film opening today, I decided to do a drawing. This one's called "MOVIN' RIGHT ALONG", and features Kermit, Gonzo, Fozzie, and Camilla the chicken... taken from a scene in one of my all time favorite movies ever, 1979's "The Muppet Movie". Click after the jump for the pic...

Even Comic Book Characters Can Feel The Wrath of Pepper Spray Cop!!!

Unless you have been living under a rock you have seen images of Lt. John Pike, aka Pepper Spray Cop, just blasting a group of college students protesting peacefully with pepper spray in the face. While this is not a funny situation at all (police brutality is fucked up), the image has sparked all types of internet meme's inserting Pepper Spray Cop into everything from fine art to Disney movies. While some of these were well done, I have to say that this next group of images from Comic Alliance has to be the best of the best. They insert Pepper spray cop into the pages of some of the greatest comics in history, and it's a fitting place for such a diabolical character to occupy. Plus this set appeals to my nerd sensibility, so that's why I like it the best. Check out all the images after the jump...

The Hot 97 Morning Team Make Their Own Thanksgiving Song

I am a huge fan of K Foxx, Cipha Sounds & Peter Rosenberg aka the Hot 97 morning show squad here in NYC. These guys make me cry at least once a day, and it is always the unexpected stuff that really gets me. This is one of those moments. Check out Cipha & Rosenberg remixing Drake's smash song "Headlines" with a Thanksgiving spin... one of the better parodies I have seen in awhile. Not to mention the images in the video that they put together is outta fucking control. Check out the video after the jump...

Proof That There Is A God: Bijou Phillips

No words... just thanks!!!

Mo Money, More Problems by Marco D'Alfonso

Last week I featured the work of Marco D'Alfonso, who I proclaimed to be the "king of the mash-ups" due to his awesome ability to combine two properties perfectly (click here to see that post). Well, he is back again... and the reign continues. Here is his take on the "Mo Money, Mo Problems" music video from rappers Puff Daddy & Mase. It features every bodies favorite superhero billionaires, Tony Stark and Bruce Wayne. All you mash-up artists out there need to pay attention... this is how it is done!!! Click after the jump to see it full sized...

The Comic Twart Team Takes On Usagi Yojimbo

I have always been a huge fan of Stan Sakai's rabbit samurai Usagi Yojimbo. I mean, how can you not be. The comics are always well written and well drawn, and the character itself is the picture of a true hero if there ever was one. I also always loved it when he was featured in cahoots with the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Those were some wonderful adventures. Tom Fowler (one of CCD's favorite artists) and the rest of his Comic Twart brethren have all taken there artistic chances with Usagi, and frankly I think these are absolutely wonderful. You can see all of these entries after the jump...

CSI:Gallifrey Is The Only CSI Show I Would Ever Watch

I have never really been a big fan of the CSI franchise of shows, especially CSI: New York. I hate that they are essentially the same show and that they make the cops on the show out to be superheroes who always figure things out. Anyway, if they created this spin-off with the characters of Doctor Who than they might garner my nerd attention. First off, I would watch David Tennant do anything. Second, you bring back Rose and I am in... no questions asked (boing... nerd boner!!!!). Finally, who better as lead investigator then the Doctor? Check out the proposed trailer for CSI: Gallifrey after the jump...

Winter Is Coming... To A Coffee Shop Near You???

This is a chalk drawing on one of those sandwich boards that stores put outside to attract customers. Whoever is running this coffee shop has some strong geek roots trying to break through on their advertising front, employing the late Eddard Stark (aka Sean Bean) to sell eggnog lattes. This makes the nerd in me smile to no end... check it out after the jump in all its magnificent glory!!!

The Bluths Are Back... You Better Get Your Netflix Accounts Right!!!

Arrested Development may very well be one of the all time best comedies to ever air on American television. Anybody who has watched the show knows this to be true. But in that statement lies the problem... Fox constantly moved the show's time slot and it never garnered the ratings that the network wanted. So it got cancelled way before it should have. Ever since it was cancelled, there have been all kinds of rumors of the return of the Bluth family: a series revival, a new network, and even a possible movie. But all of those things proved to be false... Netflix Instant is going to be the platform where we get more misadventures from this classic cast!!! Click after the jump for more details on the announcement...

Robert Burden Takes You Behind The Scenes In Creating Geek Art Masterpieces!!!

Just because an artists likes to paint geeky items doesn't meet he isn't a serious artist. Even though Robert Burden may be creating works of art portraying properties such as Star Wars and Thundercats, these are fantastic oil paintings that require a huge amount of work ethic and skill. Oh, and they look amazing!!! The colors, the detail, and the sheer size on these pieces put Burden in a class all by himself. Click after the jump for a few videos that show Burden working from blank canvas to total masterpiece in just a few short minutes...

Happy Munn-Day!!!

It's Munn-Day again... looks like someone needs to cheer us all up! Who better than the lovely Olivia Munn and some sexy Sailor Moon Cosplay? I can't think of anything better to look at from my work desk...

Matt Ferguson Gives Some Sci-Fi Classic Films A Makeover

Artist Matt Ferguson may be from across the pond, but he understands the love we Americans have of sci-fi better than anyone. Need proof of that? Check out these selections from his online art portfolio that offer Matt's take on some high profile nerd properties. He has much more work on his website, but check after the jump for the ones that I like the best.

Image Avalanche #7 by Cal From The Cave of Cool

It's that time again... Let the Image Avalanche from Canada begin!!! Cal has ventured out of his comfortable Cave of Cool to share some more awesome images with the CCD fam, and I can't be happier to have him. With friends like Cal, I never have to go on Tumblr... he brings the best of the best to us every week! Sit back and enjoy the view after the jump...

PETA Fights Back Against The Super Animal Murdering Mario Brothers

Wow... file this one as funny and informative! It seems as though PETA (People for the Etical Treatment of Animals) has had enough with Nintendo, Mario and his animal killing ways. Ever since Super Mario Brothers 3 Mario has been sporting the Tanooki suit, which is based on the Japanese raccoon dog that is routinely skinned  in real life for it's fur. With the upcoming release of Super Mario 3D Land on the Nintendo 3DS, PETA has decided to campaign against the fact that the games are glamorizing wearing fur and killing these animals. I for one had no idea that this was a real animal, and if you watch the clip after the break you can see just how horrible these animals are treated. It is truly a shame. Anyhow, PETA has created a video game of there own (click here to play it... it is addicting) where you can try and help keep the tanooki alive. I am in love with these dogs now, and I want one... FUCK YOU MARIO!!!! Click after the jump to see the video and some of the graphics of the PETA Campaign against Nintendo.

Justin Bieber Kicks A Rhyme @ The Home Of Hip Hop... And Kills It!!

On my way to drop off my lovely girlfriend at work today, I was listening to my favorite NYC morning show on the radio. Cipha Sounds, Rosenberg, and Kate Fox are the hosts of the show on Hot 97, the premiere hip hop radio station in the whole United States. The show is always really funny and they play up their different ethnicities (a Black, a Puerto Rican, and a Jew) for some funny ass skits. But they took a huge risk this morning, and invited the pop prince of the world, Justin Bieber, into the studio for an interview to promote his new Christmas album. Then Bieber asked if he could freestyle... yup, I just typed that! Now I have been hard on the pubescent Bieber because he is as soft as a babies bottom, but I gotta give credit where credit is due. Son ripped it!!! Don't believe me? Check out the video after the jump and see for yourself...

Nerdy Epic Meal Time Takes You To A Kitchen Far, Far Away!!!

My main man Joe Fletch is a HUGE fan of the Epic Meal Time guys and the insane videos they put together eating all types of food concoctions wrapped in bacon & soaked in Jack Daniels whiskey... ugh, I get chills just thinking about some of the stuff those guys have consumed! Anyway, Sexy Nerd Girl decided that if the boys could do it, so could the nerds. So she recruited her boy Guy and the decided to construct a McLenium Falcon & a Dessert Star wrapped in BACON, BACON, BACON!!! I think it's really funny how she takes the quirks of the Epic Meal Time gang and then sprinkles in the nerd humor on top of it. "This is the ship that made the diarrhea run in less than 12 parsecs!" Very well done... check out the full video after the jump!

I Want To Believe by James Silvani

I was always a big fan of the X-Files TV show, and who doesn't love Disney's Beauty & the Beast? Seems like a perfectly logical mash-up to me!!! Artist James Silvani blazed this sketch as a New York Comic Con commission, and it makes a believer out of me... how about you? Click after the jump to see the piece full size....

Draw2D2 Takes On The Muppets & The Lord Of The Rings In This Epic Mash-up Series

We are big fans of the gang over at Draw2D2, and this time they have outdone themselves. In celebration of the upcoming Muppet movie, these artists decided to plunge the characters of Jim Henson into the world of J.R.R. Tolkien... I present to you the epic Muppets/Lord Of The Rings Mash-ups!!! Click here to cast your vote for your fave over at Draw2D2 and after the jump to see  all the pieces right here on CCD!!!

Check Out Salvador Dali's Take On 'Alice In Wonderland'

This one goes out to all you art geeks out there... yup, you get love here on CCD too! Salvador Dali is one of my favorite artists, and I think it has to be because he gave a fuck-all what anybody thought about his ongoing shenanigans and crazy lifestyle. Despite being a lunatic, his art pedigree is amazing. Anywho, apparently Dali was contracted  Random House Publishing back into 1969 to illustrate the Lewis Carroll classic "Alice In Wonderland". He responded by creating 12 visually stunning heliograuves (I guess thats an artsy-fartsy art world word for paintings... WTF do I know!) for each chapter in the book, as well as a front piece for the edition. Thanks to the gang over at Brain Pickings, we have digital images of these beautiful pieces for your viewing pleasure. Click after the jump to see them in all their glory...

Stained Glass Fiction by Mandie Manzano

When looking for art to feature here on CCD, I often look for something that applies a certain twist to the regular characters we see over and over again. I mean, Disney characters & Darth Vader's are plentiful on the 'Net, but when you come across someone who adds a unique twist to these familiar characters it automatically gets my attention. Here we have artist Mandie Manzano, who portrays all of her characters in a stained glass window style. These are really cool, and she tackles a wide variety of subjects (Iron man, Harry Potter, Disney, etc). Click here for her full online portfolio, and click after the jump for a sneak peak at MY FAVORITE pieces...

Rogue Squadron Creates A Place Where Everybody Knows Your Name...

I love a good mash-up video, and this one is certainly that. The dudes over at Rogue Squadron put together this awesome Star Wars infused intro to the 'Cheers' theme song... and it is fantastic!!! I love the subtle additions, such as the champagne bottle with the cork popping out held by Boba Fett. Even though this is only a minute long, it is sure to put a smile on the face of any Star Wars geek or Cheers fan. Check out the full video after the jump...

Bloops Takes On The Justice League, Minimalistic Style

I have been featuring more and more artists who have taken to expressing themselves in the minimalist format for some reason. I'm not exactly sure why, but i think it has something to do with the simplistic nature of the designs that go into a minimalistic take on something. While someone might think that since the designs are simple then they must be easy to create, if you see truly good minimalistic art then you know that this is not the case at all. While they may be simple, the artist must capture distinct details of the subject matter in order for the pieces to work. Case in point: Check out artist Bloops take on the Justice League of America. These are wonderful... just wonderful. You can see the whole crew represented after the jump...

Wu-Tang Wednesday: Gab Gotcha - Humility

Well, today is Wednesday... so it must be time for Wu Tang!!!! It's our weekly celebration of everything Wu, so lets get it cracking. I have been patiently waiting to see what the next generation of Wu Tang would come to represent. Even though the old guard is still making music, eventually they are going to have to infuse some new blood into the mix. Enter Gab Gotcha, a Hispanic rapper that was signed by Rza to Wu Tang Records with an album ready to drop on Dec. 7th. In true independant/Wu Tang style, they went with an animated (cheaper to make) video for his lead single 'Humility'. The animation is kinda cool and the song has a hot beat, and the boy Gab spits fire on it. I am interested to hear what my fellow Wu heads have to say about this one (Joe, Fletch, anyone... please comment below!). Check out the full video after the jump...

The Kindle Fire Is Here To Change The World... One Tablet At A Time!!!

November 15th, 2011 may be a day that goes down in history... or at least the history of the tablet wars. Apple is about to get it's first serious challenger in the form of Amazon's Kindle Fire. All of the other tablets that have hit the market so far have been over-hyped and failed to make a dent on Apple's stranglehold on the market. No tablet has challenged the Ipad's efficiency and capabilities, and the Apple App store is just phenomenal. So what makes the Kindle Fire so different? Well, lets talk about that after the jump....

Risa Rodil Minimizes The Hunger Games

Artist Risa Rodil is spectacular at creating interesting & complex images... yet the ones that I chose to highlight are some of the simplest out of all of them. I am a huge fan of minimalist takes on pop culture properties, so why not see what Rodil has to say about Suzanne Collins's Hunger Game Trilogy? All three of these capture key moments from each book without revealing anything too important. It's like an inside joke for those who have read it, and peaks the interest of the people who haven't read it yet. Either way, they are hot. Check all three of them out after the jump...

Now This Is How More People Should Spend $100 Bucks...

Spanish comic artist and budding film director Jesus Orellana has created a magnificent all CGI short film entitled 'Rosa'... but that is not the amazing part of this whole story. While it is impressive that he could create the CGI film all by himself, what is more amazing is that he did it using consumer grade equipment and at a cost of $100 bucks!!! Now the short is causing a big stir over at /Film over whether or not it is any good, but frankly I a super impressed by Mr. Orellana's work ethic and frugalness.  Now there is news that the "Rosa' is going to be getting the full feature treatment. I want to hear your guys opinions on the short, so you can get a synopsis of the short and see it embedded after the jump...

8-Bit Skyrim Side Scroller... Why Didn't They Make Games Like This For NES?

Check out this awesome 8-Bit version of Skyrim, or the other game tearing up X-Box 360's & PS3's everywhere besides Modern Warfare 3. I love when they give these new games a stripped down, old school feel. This one is classic! Check out the full 8-Bit game trailer after the jump...

Jane Austen Novels x Harry Potter Houses

This is a really cool mash-up of Jane Austen book titles and the various Houses at the Hogwarts School of Wizardry in Harry Potter. I love this because a person gets placed in a house based on the choice of the sorting hat, and that choice is based on the intangibles that they possess inside their heart. I like the way the artist used the four words from the Austen books to highlight the key characteristics of each house. Click after the jump for the full picture...

'The Hunger Games' Gets An Official Trailer... I Soil My Pants

I have been yelling the praises of Suzanne Collin' 'Hunger Games' book series since the minute I turned the last page of the trilogy. While it is easy to assume it is a Young Adult crapfest in the vein of Twilight, people who read them will find themselves pleasantly surprised by the dense Sci-Fi/Adventure series the books actually are. After the success of all three books, plans for filming the trilogy started. Given the solid source material and possible potential for a franchise, Lionsgate decided to go all out. They put together a huge cast (Jennifer Lawrence, Woody Harrellson, Elizabeth Banks, Stanley Tucci, Donald Sutherland, Lenny Kravitz, Toby Jones, Thor's little brother, etc) for Gary Ross to direct... and now we finally have a trailer. Check it out in all it's wondrous glory after the jump.

More Gotham 1459 by Igor Kieryluk

A few months back we featured two pieces of art by Igor Kieryluk in his Gotham 1459 series (click here) and now he is back for more, adding one of my favorite villains in the whole Rouge Gallery to the mix. Here is Igor's take on Two Face... god, I can't wait to see more of these!!! Click after the jump for the full version of Two Face....

Did Michael J Fox Show Up In His DeLorean???

Marty McFly is back in action... well, kinda. This past weekend was a charity event called "A Funny Thing Happened On The Way To A Cure For Parkinson's" that is held by Michael J Fox's foundation. At the event, Mike dusted off his old six string and busted out his best duck walk as he joined the band in playing Johnny B Goode. It might not have been as good as the Enchantment Under the Sea performance, but it is good to see the guy still got some moves. Click after the jump for some video from the evening.

OHC of the Day: Emily Vancamp

I don't know what it is, but people often criticize the WB for the shows they put on the air. They might not be the best shows on TV, but here is the truth. The shows always stay on the air for at least 2-3 seasons, and the cast of the shows usually go on to get starring roles somewhere else down the road. One Tree Hill, Gossip Girl,   Dawsons's Creek... a sick track record of success. Enter Everwood, an interesting cheese-fest of a show that ran a total of four seasons. One of the young stars of the show, Emily Vancamp, was a ray of sunshine... it was only a matter of time before she would have her chance to shine. She did a few small movie and TV roles (she was in The Ring 2 & a cool apocalyptic movie entitled Carriers) and then it happened: ABC cast her as the lead in Revenge, their modern day re-telling of The Count of Monte Cristo. Since The Count is my favorite book, I was skeptical... but honestly, I have been blown away by the show. It is by far the bets new show of the season. Oh, and there is the whole fact that she is ridiculously hot... check after the jump for more pics of the lovely Emily.

Image Avalanche #6 by Cal From The Cave of Cool

Our frost giant brother from across the northern border Cal is back with even more images to blow your mind.
