Coolest parents.... EVER!!!!!

Here is my current nominee for parents of the year: This couple decided that their child needed a really cool playroom... so they used a REAL wardrobe, made a hole in the wall behind it that lead to another room, and created a Narnia right there in their house!!!! This is the coolest thing I have ever seen... wow!!! You also have to go over to Reddit where the pics were posted to read some of the funny comments that were left in relation to this project. Check my personal favorite quote and pics of the project after the jump...

Watch The Ladies Of Mad Men Get Their Supremes On!!!

Fuck a Zoobie, Zoobie, Zoo.... watch the ladies of Mad Men get supercut into a awesome rendition of The Supreme's claasic "You Keep Me Hangin' On". Not that I minded Mrs. Draper's sexy french song & dance in the season premiere, but this video is much funnier and features the Big Red Boob Machine that is Christina Hendricks. Gosh I love her. And Alison Brie. And January Jones. But Peggy... not so much!!! Enjoy the video after the jump...

Wizard of Oz Silkscreen Posters by David O'Daniel

David O'Daniel is one hell of an artist, and through his affiliation with San Francisco's Castro Theater he is gaining quite the following. He creates silk screen posters for classic films that are released in conjunction with the screenings of those films at the theater. His blog, Alien Corset, chronicles all his release... and all of them are special in the own right!!! The ones that are currently at the top of the list are his Emerald & Ruby edition Wizard of Oz series. These three posters come in two colors and look beautiful. You gotta love the inclusion of the flying monkey's, no? Take a look at a gallery of both series after the jump and check out the Castro Theater if you are in the San Francisco area...

How It SHOULD Have Ended: Pulp Fiction

The gang of at How It Should Have Ended do a great job drawing animated sequences that show us how many of the films we all know and love SHOULD have ended. These 2-4 minute clips are usually quite humorous and filled with truths... often times truths we as film fans don't want to acknowledge. Why should we use common sense when it is so much easier to suspend belief and swallow the unbelievable endings we are often forced to endure? Even though HISHE has had many, many videos in the past, my favorite has to be their take on Pulp Fiction. HISHE sums up all the storylines in the film, in a realistic way that will make you smile! Take a look at that one after the break, and click here to see many more of their videos...

And I Said To Myself... What A Wonderful World!!!!

People get attached to the settings in every type of entertainment they consume, whether it is movies, books, video games, comics or anything else. The setting is so key to the background story that it often overshadows a majority of characters in the work, save for the most important characters. I mean, think how much more you remember about Hogwarts as opposed to the literally 100s of non main characters in the 7 books by J.K Rowling. Or how about the fact that after 20 years I can still remember how to navigate Hyrule when I downloaded Zelda on my Wii, yet forgot ALL of the 8 final bosses names in the game except for level 9 baddie Ganon? The setting can often make the story what it is and be the driving force in a work of fiction. With that being said, this is the most complete map of fantasy lands that I have ever seen. I have not been able to locate the creator of this map (I hate not creating brilliance) but all the links I am finding around the web seem to go back to the I WASTE SO MUCH TIME blog. So check them out cause their blog is cool and seems to be pretty chill. Tell em CCD sent ya! Check out a larger version of the map after the jump and see if you can figure out oall of the locations and what properties they come from... enjoy your trip!!!

He's Back... Back In The San Dieg-ian Groove!!!!

Anchorman may very will be one of the funniest movies ever made, and it is definitively one of Will Ferrell most memorable performances. Even people who are not the biggest Ferrell fans find something likeable in the laugh fest that is Anchorman. The supporting cast (Paul Rudd, Steve Carrell, Christina Applegate, cameos by Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughn, and Ben Stiller, etc...) is superb and the quotable lines are way to many to list here. But for the past 5 years we have been teased at the possibility of a sequel to no avail, as Paramount has balked at the sequel plans for quite sometime. But a certain Jazz flute playing newscaster showed up on Conan the other night and dropped a bombshell... as well as some witty comments and insults directed towards Conan. We will have a Anchorman 2 sequel!!!! Watch the full clip after the jump for the announcement and some fresh Ron Burgundy to brighten up your day!!!

Proof That There Is A God: Kelly Brook Edition

Good lord is Kelly brook an amazing human being!!! If you ever needed a reason to love our cousins from across the pond, here are 8 to help you give thanks!!! This girl may have the best boobs I have ever seen.... and a Reebok endorsement contract to boot!!! Enjoy the photos after the jump...

Wu-Tang Wednesday: U-God & Method Man - "Wu-Tang"

We have been off the Wu Tang Wednesday bandwagon for a minute, but today we are back like we left something!!! Welcome to Wu Tang Wednesday, where we celebrate the wonderful history of music from the world's greatest hip hop group, the Wu Tang Clan!!! Today we check in on U-God, the least vocal member of the clan, who came out with a dope album entitled "Dopium" in 2010 to very little fanfare. One of the best tracks on the album was a collabo with the most popular member of the clan, Method Man, entitled "Wu-Tang". It features a banging beat that is very in line with what the clan was doing back in the mid 90s and the hook is quite catchy. Check out the video after the jump and spread the word....celebrate Wu Tang Wednesday all day baby!!!!

Mount Playmore by ???

I found this excellent design for a t-shirt over at Busted Tees and I am pissed because the site does not name the designer of the shirt. It is entitled Mount Playmore, and features the Nintendo  Holy Quadumvirate  of Mario, Donkey Kong, Samus Aran, and Link set in stone like they rightfully deserve. I hate not being able to being able to give credit to an artist, but this one was too good not to share. You can pick this one up for 20 bucks by clicking here and can see the detailed photo of the design after the jump...

Where Do Monsters Go On Vacation?

Why... Hotel Transylvania of course!!!  What a great idea for an animated movie. Take the classic Universal Monsters (Dracula, Frankenstein, Wolfman, Mummy, etc)  and place them on vacation in a monsters only resort that is made for them to get some rest & relaxation away from the general public, and then introduce a regular person into the mix to throw everything off. This sounds perfect!!! Think about how much trouble the little girl (Boo) caused in the monster world in Monsters Inc... it is the classic role reversal story made more interesting due to the presence of monsters. Add in a great voice cast (Adam Sandler, Andy Samberg, Kevin James, Selena Gomez, Steve Buschemi, Ceelo Green, David Spade) from the regulars at Happy Madison and you get one hell of a good looking animated film... I hope Sandler & his crew sticks to these animated movies instead of the latest shit movies he has been putting up on the big screen. Check out the full trailer after the jump...

Why Is Dad So Mad? by The Board of Education

When you are a geek you love to uncover little nuggets of cool shit to rub in your friends faces and proclaim yourself  a more accomplished geek among your friends. But as you get older and have kids, you take much more pride in seeing your kids make good decisions about geek properties. Case in point: Star Wars. While I am a fan of the prequels, to me the original trilogy reigns supreme. Imagine how proud of my nine year old I am when he tells people that Empire Strikes Back is his favorite of the six... it's better than him making the honor role!!! The kiddies are the future though, so I bet it is a bit confusing to them when they see us get so disgusted with something threatening one of our beloved properties. Enter the kids musical group The Board of Education, who have created a song entitled "Why Is Dad So Mad"  to help our kids understand why we curse George Lucas so much about something we supposedly love... Thanks to fellow proud poppa Joe Fletch for sending me this. Now if I could only get Mikey to understand why Voltron is so much better than the Power Rangers...

Defective by Glennz

The original 60's Batman TV series was a camp classic, filled with guest stars and word bubbles describing the action. It is one of my fondest memories of TV watching as a child... anywho, the show spawned a full length feature that is a dream come true for a fan of the show because it is like three episodes in one and features all four of Batman's most notorious villains (Joker, Penguin, The Riddler, and Catwoman). It also contains one of the most memorable "Bat-Moments" of all time in which Batman is attacked by a shark and tries to fight it off with his bare hands. He is only successful in ridding himself of the shark when Robin passes him a can of "Shark Repellent"... it is so ridiculous that it has become a touchstone moment in pop culture history! T-shirt artist Glennz decided to use this scene as inspiration for his newest shirt, "Defective". Great shirt in memory of a great team...

Image Avalanche #12 by Cal From The Cave of Cool

Guess whose biz-ack??? Cal is embracing the spring and coming out of the winter and hitting us up with another Image Avalanche to make our days a bit brighter. His collections of images always make me smile, and their randomness seems to work in some unorthodox roundabout way. You ready to get your mind blown? Get it in after the jump.... and make sure you spread the love in the comment section so that our brother from a Canadian mother knows just how much we love him!!!

50 Years Of James Bond by Matt Needle

Minimalist art is a talent that not many people can pull off completely. Conveying the full meaning of a poster with just basic images and hardly no words is a challenge, yet when it is done successfully it comes off as beautiful to look at. Matt Needle is one of these artists that knows how to balance the obscure with the understandable. Case in point: His 50th anniversary poster in celebration of James Bond. Needle takes iconic images of all the Bond films and includes them in a collage that is reinforced with the names of the six actors who have portrayed Bond and the titles of the films. I also love the color choice, using gold to signify the 50th anniversary. Well done. Check out the full version after the jump...

Chuck Norris Takes On Your Favorite Video Games... And Kicks Their Ass!!!

Chuck Norris has long been the punchline for countless jokes and situational skits based on his invincibility.  But video artist Daneboy decided to pit the Big Red Machine against some of our favorite video game titles from the past 30 years. These 40 second clips depict an 8-bit Norris taking on the viscous green pigs of Angry Birds, level 1-1 of Super Mario Brothers, and the sneaky ghosts of Pacman. Enjoy all three clips after the jump and remember that nobody can defeat Chuck Norris.... NOBODY!!!

If You Never Watched Anime Before, The New Lupin the 3rd Feature Is A Good Place To Start...

Back in my college days of the early 200's I watched an awful lot of Cartoon Network. Dexter's Laboratory, Space Ghost Coast to Coast, and many other animated titles filled the airways. But this era is mostly known for the anime comeback that was taking place on the network. Ghost In The Machine, Cowboy Bebop, Fist of the Northstar... all of these series were gaining new life and new fans across America. This is where I fell in love with Lupin the 3rd, the anime about the gentleman thief. Lupin comes from a long line of thieves, and he is so good he often tells his victims AHEAD of time he plans on robbing them. Lupin was the basis for the Night Fox character in Ocean's 12 & 13. Lupin and his gang of misfits travel the globe pulling heists and having fun. It is truly a great show. In April, Japanese network Toho announced a new 13 episode prequel series entitled Lupin the 3rd: The Woman Called Fujiko Mane which will flashback to the beginning of Lupin & his crew and their earliest jobs. The trailer doesn't have a whole lot of animation, but it is super retro and I love this series so I am posting it anyway. If you want a good time watching anime, dig up the older versions of Lupin. You will not be disappointed. Click after the jump for the full trailer...

Even Bad Guys Have To Get Old....

As a big horror fan I am constantly looking for websites that focus on the genre to read. I was always a fan of Bloody Disgusting, but they have gotten a bit corporate and big for their britches. A few years back I stumbled upon Freddy In Space, a cool blog run by a guy named Johnny. There was just something about the blog and the way he ran it that remind me alot of what we are trying to do here at CCD.... just talk about stuff we love and maybe score some free shit from companies for reviewing their stuff. Then I found out that Johnny was a fellow NYer and that was enough for me. We have become friends through meet ups at Comic Con and sharing memorabilia, and I am still a very big fan of his blog. Go check it out!!! Anyway, Johnny featured photographer Fredrico Chisea works in which Chisea shows us what it will be like when the villains we love grow old. THese guys may not seem like much of a threat anymore, but I bet they still go a bit of bad ass left in em. Check out the photo series after the jump...

Happy Munn-Day!!!

Today is Munn Day, just another excuse for us to post some extremely hot pics of our healthy obsession, Olivia Munn. She is looking like she is need of some assistance with tying that bikini bottom and I for one would gladly help her out with my teeth... wait, what? Just another day of the week, but a better one after seeing these three pics for sure. Pics after the jump...

Avengers #221 Covered by Ben Temples

One of my all time favorite comic book covers is Avengers #221. This is when the team was going through a line up change and Marvel seemed to be giving the fans an option of who would make up the newest roster of "Earth's Mightiest Heroes". I was given a run of Avengers books from #150 to #250 back in 1986-87 as a gift,  so these books are very near and dear to my heart. #221 always stood out to me because Ed Hannigan & Joe Rubenstein just killed the design and foster such intrigued in the readers mind. I always loved the blank box in the middle with "Invisible Girl" in the box. So funny. Covered is a really cool website (check here) that lets artists take on these classic covers, and Ben Temples decided to use the current crop of  "Marvel Movie" Avengers to recreate the epic cover.  Well done in my opinion. Click after the jump to see both the original #221 & Temples recreation in full glory...

Need Help Understanding Inception? Matt Dempsey Got Your Back...

Inception has been featured on HBO a lot lately and I have been watching it whenever I can. To me it is one of the most original movies I have ever seen and proves Chris Nolan is much more than the guy who brought back the Bat as a filmmaker. Like any complicated movie it asks the viewer to think and follow a multi-level story across multiple landscapes which can all be very confusing. This turns off a ton of people, but for the viewers who can dedicate their brain to the flick for two hours it is very rewarding. But web designer Matt Dempsey thought it could be very beneficial if he could design an interactive website to explain each level of the dreams in Inception. He color codes all of the characters and properly explains who is doing what on each level of the dream. Even though I feel like I got the movie (I'm probably wrong...lol), this animated info-graphic helped me out alot and made me that much more eager to revisit the film again. Thank you to Joe Fletch for bringing this to my attention. Click here to be blown away by Dempsey's wonderful website...

So That Is What's In Kelly Brook's Bra....

If you don't know who Kelly Brook is, you are about to get a hell of an introduction. The British bombshell is a hottie, no doubt about that. She will be making her own "Proof That There Is A God" debut here on CCD in the next few days, but I had to post this commercial for the English charity "Sports Relief". It features Kelly looking smashing, wearing red from head to toe, and showing off her pair of aces (wink, wink) to perfection. If they keep vids like this coming, I would LOVE to donate something to her cause... Click after the jump for the full commercial.

Marvel Comics Presents: The Clone Wars by Sean Hartter

Sometimes when I love a show I can't wait for the series to end. I know that doesn't make a bunch of sense... If you love something, why would you want it to be over? My reasoning is that if I missed a few of the seasons or am late to the party on a show I will be able to watch it at my own pace if it is finished. I am eagerly anticipating this moment in time with the Clone Wars cartoon. I watched the first two seasons religiously, but I feel off and I have been hearing GREAT things about the past couple of seasons. I will get to it after it is all wrapped up. In the mean time I can check out some retro mash-up fan art from CCD fave Sean Hartter, who gives the Clone Wars story line a 70's style Marvel Comics makeover. Just another wonderful piece from a wonderful artist. Check out the full piece after the jump and click here for more of Hartter's wonderful artwork...

A CCD Rant by Mike D: Hey Fanboys & Fellow Internet Blowhards: Leave Michael Bay Alone!!!

Hehehehe... I know that the title of my upcoming rant ALONE is enough to make nerds everywhere spill their Red Bull all over their wireless keyboards as they gasp in horror. Plus, I think I just heard Jeff Bond drop dead of a heart attack at his job, and possibly an earthquake from the explosion of anger from Kristen Grillo out on the West Coast!!! But before I get into my latest rant, let me preface this by saying something right off the bat:

I, Michael DeVito, am not a Bay apologist and could give a fuck less what he does as a professional.

I am simply writing this rant because while most internet Fan boys & self proclaimed 'GEEKS' who should be more intelligent than they appear to be need to shut the fuck up. Stop blaming Michael Bay for all the problems that happen in the adaptions he is a part of. Transformers may not be your cup of tea, but it certainly wasn't made by Bay himself. Now there is this flap about what Bay said about the new TMNT movie that will contain Turtles that are of an "alien" origin. Hey gang, I got news for you: If this is true, it PROBABLY WASN'T BAY'S IDEA IN THE FIRST PLACE , NOR IS IT HIS IDEA ALONE!!!! What the fuck is wrong with you people?

Click after the jump for the rest of this rant...

JoeyESQ's Ode To Toys

What's up CCD Fam, JoeyEsq here. Now most of you know me from my "Takin You Way Back" columns where I highlight various forgotten and under appreciated toys from that great decade, the 1980's. If you don't know, that's where I bring you up to speed on some of the more obscure, lesser known and less successful toylines that came out during my youth. Now when I write those columns I absolutely do some research, and Google Images and YouTube are phenomenal in the visual aide department, but in every article, at least some of (if not all) of what I write is from memory. That got me thinking, I have a lot of really fond, really vivid memories involving toys. Probably way more than a 33 year old attorney should admit to having. But whatever, thoughts of my old toys always bring a warm feeling to my heart,  so I thought I'd share some of those thoughts and warm feelings with you.

3 Trailers That Couldn't Be More Different, But Are All Interesting In Their Own Way...

Trailers for TV Shows & Movies come out everyday, but rarely do three come out in one day that are SO different and appealing to me all at once. This happened yesterday, so I figured it would make a great post since the project were all so different. First up, we have David Cronenberg's newest flick Cosmopolis trailer,. You get a post Twilight Robert Pattinson  in a film adaption WRITTEN by Cronenberg himself (he hasn't written his last few films, and while they are good they haven't been his signature weird style). This one looks completely bizarre, and I am really interested to see it considering all the hype surrounding Cronenberg's last film "A Dangerous Method". The second trailer is from Stephanie Meyer's OTHER novel (she wrote the Twilight series) The Host. Considering the amount of fans she has and the fact that The Host sold very well in it's own right, this movie should do well. But when you add Saoirse Ronan (Hannah, The Lovely Bones) as the lead role, you get my attention instantly (I love this kid!). This one looks cool (plus I read the book and it was pretty good...really creepy). Finally, we get a sneak peak at season 2 of The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes from Cartoon Network!!! This is by far one of THE BEST cartoons made in the last 10 years, and I can't wait to see what is in store for the gang. Plus, you gotta love that this incarnation of The Avengers includes Wasp & Giant Man. How could they leave these two out of the movie? Grrrr... c'mon Marvel!!! Plus if you watch the trailer, you can see: Ms. Marvel, The Fantastic Four, Skrulls, Scarlet Witch, The Vision. and Red Hulk just to name a few... Wow!!! Enjoy all three clips after the jump, and tell me what you think in the comment section below...

The Edgar Wright Triple Play At The Alamo Drafthouse Is Another Reason I Am Considering Moving To Texas...

God, the gang at the Alamo Drafthouse sure know how to put some interesting programming. This weekend they are hosting a triple play screening of Edgar Wright's three seminal movies: Shaun of the Dead, Hot Fuzz, and Scott Pilgrim. Wow... just wow. How is there no Drafthouse here in NYC yet? what are you guys waiting on? WTF!!!! Anyway, Mondo commissioned Kevin Tong to create a triple bill poster to be sold at the event, similar to the ones created by DKNG Studios & CCD fave Alex Pardee last year for the L.A. triple bills that were shown. Pretty awesome stuff, all the way around. After the jump you can see Tong's unreal take on the three films, as well as the two older posters just cause they are fucking awesome...

Kermit & Walter Pop Shit About Jason Segel...

Earlier this week Jason Segel made some comments where he distanced himself from particpating in another Muppet movie so quickly. He cited his love for the Muppets but the need to get involved in other things. Usually something like this would just garner an "aw man" type response from others involved in the film. But not the Muppets... if you didn't already know, they are kind of outspoken. Kermit & Walter were recently interviewed by MTV, and they lobbed jokes about Segel's height and how he discovered Walter. It was all in good fun, but Kermit's deadpan is just amazing. A funny short clip, especially for all you Muppet enthusiasts out there (I'm looking at you Jedi Rob & Jeffy). Enjoy the clip after the jump...

Rock 'Em, Sock 'Em Who-Bots by Jeffro Kilpatrick

Mash-ups that show the artist using their heads to match two properties that are perfect for each other cause a giant smile to come across my face. There are easy ones, like The Incredibles mixed with the Fantastic Four. But then there are no brainers that never occurred to regular folks like me, such as Jeffro Kilpatrick's Rock 'em, Sock 'em Who-bots! What a killer idea, having the red & blue corners repped by a Cyberman & a Dalek. Delete!!! Exterminate!!! Delete!!! Exterminate!!! This is great. I know my girl Brianna & brother Edson would certainly appreciate this one...lol. Check out the full size pic after the jump....

Masters Of The Universe & Princess of Power Fan Art by Nebezial

Honestly, He-man & She-Ra were both pretty awesome cartoons... and the majority of that came from teh fact that the character designs were very original and cool to look at. Whenever I see fan art that makes these characters look even cooler, it just piques my interest even more. Croatian artist Nebezial has done some amazing things with the guys & gals of Eternia, so I decided to highlight my personal faves here on CCD. Click after the jump to see which ones that I liked the best... BY THE POWER OF GREYSKULL!!!!

Behind The Mask: The Rise Of Leslie Vernon by Justin Osbourn

One of my favorite horror movies over the past 5 years has got to be Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. It is a mockumentary styled film that follows a serial killer (Leslie Vernon) who is plotting to join the ranks of Mike, Jason, and Fred as elite serial killers. In order to do this he adopts an Urban Legend back story, carefully picks out his victim base, and sets up a kill zone at an desolate farmhouse to put this plan into action... all the while being filmed by a host & her two cameramen. They think that Vernon PROBABLY won't go through with it, but once people start dying they realize that he is quite serious. What makes the film so great is the moments of levity in the lead up to the climatic finish. Vernon illustrates how he will be able to accomplish these kills with such ease, using typical horror movie behaviors and cliches to signify how the group of kids will relax. It is so funny, yet it all makes sense and makes his omnipresent appearance all over the place so much more explainable. Great stuff. The film can be seen on Netflix Instant, and is also making a appearance back in theaters on April 11th as part of the Gathr (Movies shown in a theater on demand) service, which is awesome. i hope there is a screening here in NYC! In celebration for the re-release, artist Justin Osbourn has created an awesome 70s'80s inspired poster (click here to buy the poster) that would have surely decorated the VHS box art of many mom & pop video shops back in the day. this poster is great. You can see it in full after the jump, and click here for more details on the April 11th screenings...

At First I Was Like....

Internet memes can be humorous long after they make an appearance on the 'Net and become part of every bodies lexicon. Things like "What type of sorcery is this?", "I Can Haz Cheezburger", "Things ____ People Say" and "Boom Goes The Dynamite" still get smiles on peoples faces even after they have been seen and reinvented 100s of times.

Nicky Barkla Adds Some Color To Some Of The Most Recognizable Characters Of Fiction

Fan art is one of the most popular things we feature here on CCD. I think it is the familiarity of the characters that attracts people to these pieces. But every once and a blue I come across someone who takes those familiar characters and tosses them on their ear, recreating them in a way that inspires awe despite the fact that we have known these characters for years.  Australian artist Nicky Barkla does just that with her over-sized rainbow painted character portraits, and they are fantastic. The swirls of colors are hypnotizing, yet they do not take away from the recognizable features that each piece possess. Plus she is a bit of a hottie herself  (check out her self portraits....ming!!!).  You can click here to see all of her work, and you can click after the jump to see my faves...

ABCinema & 123Films by Evan Seitz Take You On A Magical Journey Through Film History

I am a sucker for short films, especially ones that sport slick animation. It's an added bonus if the short can take me on a sentimental journey through film history. If you have TWO SHORTS instead of ONE, well... you are pretty much a lock to get featured here on CCD. So today we are highlighting Evan Seitz excellent shorts, ABCinema & 123Films. Both of them use short bursts of animation and audio clues from movies to take us on a journey down memory lane. Can you guess all of them? Some are obvious, but some are tougher to catch. Despite the fact that they total 1 minute and 30 seconds respectively, I'm sure you will be spending a bit more time than that on each one while you ride the pause button trying to figure them all out! Catch both shorts in full after the jump...

Skottie Young's 'John Carter' Comic Covers Give Us Something To Smile About In Spite Of The Disaster That Is The Film Adapation

The Disney Corporation owns Marvel, so you know the cross overs are going to start rolling out eventually. With 'The Avengers' set to hit theaters and the super heroes riding higher than ever, Disney seems to be hitching its wagon to the comic book producer. But one of the first moves they made as a team was an adaption of the 'John Carter: Princess of Mars' novel in a 5 issue mini series. The series was released in Sept 2011 and just finished up in January. It came out in lieu of the John Carter film (released by Disney... ya see what I'm getting at here) and sports covers by one of my favorite artists, Skottie Young. Skottie does a great job applying his own style to the cast of Barsoom and the results are great. I have not bought this series yet, but once it is collected in graphic novel form I will cop it instantly! The sequel series, a Warlord of Mars, is set to hit stores this month. Keep an eye out for it, because it may be the only sequel we see due to the underwhelming performance of the proposed blockbuster film. That makes me sad, but Skottie Young covers always bring a smile to my face. Click after the jump for all 5 covers...

OHC of the Day: Megalyn Echikunwoke

Megalyn Echikunwoke is the kind of actress that always drives me crazy. I feel like I have seen her in a million things and then when I check her IMDB I see that it is not as many as I remembered. I first got a glimpse of this African/Irish beauty when she starred as the grown up version of Isabelle Tyler on the very underrated 4400. That show was awesome, and Megalyn had a lot to do with that. She also had recurring roles on CSI:Miami, the new 90210, and  24. But lately I have been seeing ALL OF HER (she is naked... a lot!) on one of my new favorite shows, Showtime's 'House of Lies'. She is starring opposite of Don Cheadle, and she is a highlight on a very well executed show. If you are not watching this, you should be. This show is on the cusp of becoming Showtime's next break out hit. She also has an indy movie called Damsels In Distress that has been garnering all types of positive reviews due to megalyn's perfomance amonst a cast of hot young stars (Analeigh Tipton, Greta Gerwig, Adam Brody, Carrie MacLemore, etc). Get familiar with Megalyn in the photo collection that comes after the jump... and also look for a suprise link down at the bottom of the group!

Super Crooks: The Most Logical Idea Involving Super Powers In The History Of Comics

Mark Millar & Leinil Yu are two of the biggest names in the comic book industry. Like em or hate em, these guys can do pretty much whatever they want. So why not team up and try to come up with a great idea for a comic? Well, they did... and it may be the most logical idea I have ever heard for a story that is based on superheroes and super villains. In all the craziness and bizarre ideas that pollute most comics, how come nobody ever thought so simple? Click after the jump for a full explanation of the comic (which is out this week) and a cool promo video from director Nacho Vigalando (if you haven't seen Time Crimes, you better fix that ASAP) who will actually be directing a film version of the series due out some time next year. This one is gonna be epic...

Obscure Batman Villains by Scarlett Veith

When you are an artists you cut your teeth on illustrating characters that others have created. It is good practice and teaches you to emulate the techniques of previously successful artists in the field. Once you begin to make a name for yourself, most artists still engage in producing some fan art to add their own twists and turns to a character. But deviant artist Scarlett Veith took quite a different approach for her "Batman a Week" series of drawings. She chose to highlight some of the more obscure characters of the Batman mythos, especially the villains. These are so awesome they hurt my brain. The Ratcatcher... really? And she even took on two of my faves, Solomon Grundy & Batzzaro. Check out the full run of the line by clicking here and click after the jump for some of my faves...

The TMNT Cartoon Opening Credits Get A Stop Motion Makeover... Cowabunga!!!

Kyle Roberts is a talented director who wanted to shoot something that would remind him of his childhood. Nathan Poppe is an artist that was down to help out... so he hand drew 60 images to help create a stop motion version of the 1987 TMNT cartoon. Add in a decent cover of the title song by The Boom Bang and you got one hell of a 2 minute video. I know I would be proud of it. Roberts is talented, and the video is filled with tons of little winks and cliches that make it totally awesome.  Plus they got to use the newer Mecca TMNT figures, which are completely bad ass and look so much like the original comic book designs. Awesome dude. You can see the video as well as a cool "making of" vignette after the jump...

The Many Colors Of The DC Lanterns Explained

The Lantern Saga has been an ongoing story line for the past couple of years in DC Comics. It is one of the only titles that has not been affected by the new DC 52 relaunch (I think) and has produced some really cool arcs such as The Sinestro Wars, Brightest Day, and Darkest Night. But who are these mysterious groups of Lanterns??? What are they all about? Who are the key members? Look no further. Thanks to my main man Cal over at the Cave of Cool here are 8 full size posters detailing everything you need to know about all the Lantern Corps. Hope that this helps you out with any questions you may need answered about the basics... click after the jump for all the posters!!!

John Carter: A Retrospective Rant On Originality by Mike D

Damn, damn, damn!!! Why? Why?? Why??? How come people couldn't just bite the bullet and go out to see John Carter last week? Where is the blind faith that propels shit movies to record breaking numbers at the box office and makes Avatar the highest ranked box office film of all time? How can a company that is as seasoned and well respected as Disney not generate the build up necessary to get Carter going in the right direction? Especially since the movie is pretty fucking good.... why? If any of these things would have happened, I wouldn't be sitting here about to bitch and moan about one of my favorite fictional properties of all time. But since Carter only made 30 mil this week at the box office, it looks like it's rant time... so here goes nothing!!!

How Have I Never Seen This Before???

Holy fucking hell... how have I never seen this??? As a purveyor of the Internet and someone always seeking out weird and wacky stuff, I do not know how I never saw this rap video from Dan Aykroyd & Tom Hanks entitled "City of Crime" from the Dragnet soundtrack. I fucking love Dragnet... it is such a campy classic that I revisit it often. But I had no idea that this video existed... Jesus!!!It was brought to my attention when I read an article on Yahoo Music by Rob O'Connor (click here to see it) highlighting the 25 worst rap performances ever. How the fuck did they get TOM HANKS & DAN AYKROYD to dance around like buffoons and recite these ridiculous lyrics with straight faces??? I know this was long before Hanks was Mr. Oscar perennial front runner, but he was still a pretty big name in Hollywood. This could have derailed his career FOREVER if the Internet was around back in the late 80s/early90s... This is by far the best 3 minutes I have spent in a long time!!! Hey World... Meet Woola!!!

I absolutely loved John Carter (check my review a few posts up from this), but the thing that impressed me
the most had to be the portrayal of Woola, John Carter's Calot (lizard dog for all of you guys who didn't read the books). Woola was always one of my favorite parts of the Carter books, probably because of how faithful he is to Carter and how viscous he can be when it's time to attack. Woola also seems to have been the inspiration for the Direwolves in George R.R. Martin's 'A Song Of Ice & Fire', just another in a long line of Carter inspired ideas that dummies will think are ripped off in this movie despite the fact that the Carter books are over 100 YEARS OLD!!! Disney is starting to realize that people like the lightning fast pup, so they are doing some post release marketing to help win some people over. So 'Dark Shadows' Is Gonna Take The Campy Route... Wait, What????

Wow... I don't exactly know what just happened. I just watched the 2.5 minute trailer that was just released for Tim Burton's upcoming film Dark Shadows and I don't really exactly know how I feel. This is completely NOT what I expected... but I am not that upset by it. As a fan of the original show (I have watched over 300 episodes of the original show on Netflix) I was eager to see what someone as talented as Tim Burton would do with a stellar cast and a cult classic property. I saw all the stills of Johnny Depp as Barnabas, looking very reminiscent of the old Barnabas Collins. I saw the amazing cast consisting of people like Michelle Pfiefer, Jackie Earle Haley, Chloe Moretz, Eva Green, Helena Bohnam Carter, and many more... and it looked fantastic. Very dark and brooding, true to the gritty feel of the show. Then you see the video for the trailer, and you get something right out of left field. Lego Characters by Jung Von Matt

I came across these cool minimalist recreations of animated/children characters composed of Lego bricks by artist Jung Von Matt over at SuperPunch. I thought that the simpleness of them was very cool, and that they are easily identifiable despite the fact that they lack detail. You got the Ninja Turtles, The Simpsons, Bert & Ernie, and the cast of South Park. Check out all four of the pics after the jump...

Check Out The Ladies Of Glee & American Horror Story Taking On Some Horror Classics...

Whether you like the shows that he creates or not, you gotta give Ryan Murphy credit. Nip/Tuck, Glee, and American Horror Story were all super successful in their own right, and they are extremely popular amongs their core group of fans. Mr. Murphy is certainly riding high. So high in fact that back in January Elle magazine decided to allow Murphy to re-create some classic scenes from horror movies using his female actresses from Glee & AHS and letting Murphy snap the shoot. The results are quite beautiful. If you are a fan of classic horror movies than you will love this photo shoot, and if not peruse it anyway for all the hot pieces of ass that were used for the photos. Click here to read backstories on each one of the photos over at the Elle webpage. There are 9 in total, so click after the jump to see them all...

Artin' It Up With Tommy Lombardozzi: Turtle Power Edition

Hey folks. It's been awhile since I've shared any art with good ol' CCD, but here I am! Back again and ready to... dosomething!

So, a few days ago, I came across a new comic shop in my neighborhood. EXCALIBUR COMICS, on 20th Avenue and 74th Street in Bensonhurst, Brooklyn. Exciting! There hasn't been a comic store around here in YEARS! Anyway...

The place is in its infancy; not too much back stock, some toys and do-dads (cool Ghostbusters shit that if I had the money I'd buy), etc. Anyway, I picked up a few comics. The latest issue of the newest ongoing Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series by IDW Publishing, a TMNT Donatello one-shot, the latest issues of one of my favorite comics of all time, USAGI YOJIMBO, and a Ghostbusters comic. Fun stuff!

I Know This Is Late, But It Is Still Cool As Shit...

Last week everybody and their mother was posting these two cool ass videos from digital artist Mike Habjan that pitted Superman Vs The Incredible Hulk. Talk about an epic showdown!!! I personally despise Superman as a character and would LOVE to see the Big Green Machine lay the smack down on him. No matter how strong Supes may actually be, lets not forget that the Hulk gets STRONGER whenever he is injured or made angry. I'm not an expert, but I am pretty sure that a heat vision blast would do both of those things... and promptly lead to some busted up Kryptonian skull. Click after the jump to see both videos...

Winter Is Coming... On April 1st!!!

I am completely enthralled with the world of Westeros right now. George R.R. Martin's book series "A Song Of Ice & Fire" is one of the most complex and exciting books I have ever read. The 1st season was amazing, an on April 1st the Starks, Lannisters, and the rest are back on Sunday nights to further the storyline a bit more for all of you out there who haven't read the fantastic books. Here are a few of the promo posters being used to promote the new series. The fourth one is a doozy in typical Game of Thrones fashion...

The Friend-vengers

I am a real sucker for trailer mash-ups. I love when some up[ and coming video editor takes awesome footage from a current property and adds it to the music of an older movie or TV show credits. Last month we had an excellent Walking Dead opening credit sequence that used the theme song of Growing Pains, and this month we get a Friends style look at the Avengers universe. I would watch the shit out of this sitcom. Well played... Thanks to Jeff Bond for locating this one. Click after the jump for the full video...

Weapon Tyrion by Brandon Bird

I am completely enthralled with George R.R. Martin's "A Song of Ice & Fire" book series right now, so when I see a mash-up photo featuring The Imp dressed like Wolverine... well, that gets an automatic re-post!!! Artist Brandon Bird does an excellent job of portraying Tyrion Lannister (probably my favorite character in the series) as Wolverine from the X movies. Logan is supposed to be like 5'2 anyway... so this isn't to much of a stretch (pun intended). Click after the jump to see the full picture...
