Evil Dead: An Animated Tribute
The Evil Dead franchise is one of the most important sets of films in my cinematic life. The reasons are actually quite complex. The slapstick style of the horror presented by Sam Raimi in the three films made the horror genre much more accessible and easier to accept for me as a youngster. Also, it introduced me to the wonderful work of Sam Raimi, and would lead to the genius eventually making the Spider-Man trilogy. And finally it allowed me to fall in love with Ash, one of the greatest heroes ever portrayed by the one & only Bruce Campbell!!! Olly Moss (the one above) created an cool poster for Mondo back in 2010, and that poster helped inspire this unreal minute & a half animated clip from Daniel Kanemoto that commemorates all three films in the series. This one will take fans of the series back down memory lane!!! See the clip after the jump...

News Team Assemble by Adam Limbert
It is Mustache Month over at Planet Pulp (I shit you not... all of their featured art this month features characters with mustaches!!!) and one of the best contributions so far has to have come from Adam Limbert. Limbert decided to create his own comic book that consists of a super team... but this ain't The Avengers. It's San Diego's Mightiest Heroes - The Channel 4 News Team!!! Lead by the mustachioed Ron Burgundy, they are the absolute top of the crop out in the So-Cal area. Forget those guys from Channel 2 News... those dirtbags have been in 3rd place for 5 years!!!! Check out the full size pic after the jump...

'Red Hook Summer' - Spike Lee Comes Back To NYC!!!!
It's Summer in the NYC... so what better way to celebrate than another Spike Lee Joint? Spike is heading back to the Big Apple with Red Hook Summer, a film that has built up a lot of buzz coming off it's premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. It has been trimmed down a bit (from 132 min to 121 minutes), but it seems as if Lee is heading back to his early types of films with this one. Being the huge fan that I am of hits like Do The Right Thing, Jungle Fever, 25th Hour & Crooklyn, I am really excited to see my man Spike back in the NY groove. Enjoy the trailer after the jump... and support independant filmmakers and NYC films!!!

Cabin In The Woods by Hopko Design
Cabin In The Woods is a polarizing flick... people either love it or they hate it. I have heard more people express that they liked it, but it does have some detractors. One thing is for certain, it is full of originality. Joss Whedon brought the fuck with a great story, and Drew Goddard directed a hell of a good film. I love the cast, and I especially love the everyday workers at The Company (if you haven't seen the movie you don't know who I am talking about... but if you have, I only have two words: Mer Men!!!!) who make the film so awesome. Richard Jenkins & Bradley Whitford steal the show, and they also happen to be the inspiration for Hopko Design's alternate version of the movie poster. This one is dope!!! CCD's 1st Look At Black Dynamite: The Animated Series
Black Dynamite may very well be the funniest movie I have seen in the past 10 years. A perfect exploitation movie in every sense of the word, with an awesome cast (Michael Jai White, Tommy Davidson, Arsenio Hall, Kym Whitley, etc,), some of the most racist slurs ever uttered on film, and a great directorial debut from my main man Scott Sanders (click here to see why he is CCD's favorite director!). If you haven't seen it, it is streaming on Netflix now. But you better get to it quick, because Black Dynamite: The animated Series is coming to Cartoon Network on July 15th!!!! Made by the dudes who brought you The Boondocks and voiced by the actors from the movie itself, this one is going to be epic!!!! Check out the trailer after the jump and beware of Kung Fu trickery, you moon crickets....

A Month Of Batman by Jeb Kennedy
Jeb Kennedy seems to be a pretty good graphic artist. No matter how great his work could ever be, it will take a ton just to equal up to his latest idea. He is doing a full months worth of posts over at his blog dedicated to Batman, leading up to the release of The Dark Knight Rises on July 20th! That means 25+ pieces featuring cool ass Batman related characters and the like to build up the hype for the latest (and probably greatest) Batman flick to hit the screen. Epic Misney by T Campbell & John Waltrip
A few weeks back the Internet was abuzz with news coming out of the Las Vegas Licensing Expo in regards to the plans for the Disney & The Marvel Universes to collide. The partner companies will start tying characters from both worlds in with one another, most notably starting with Phineas & Ferb crossing over with some of Marvel's finest heroes. But to celebrate the genuine idea that the two world could co-exist we get an unbelievable painting from T Campbell & John Waltrip that pairs some of the all time Disney greats with their equally important Marvel cohorts. You gotta love some of the pairings in this one. Squirrel Girl with Chip & Dale? Captain Hook with Wolverine? Fing Fang Foom with Malificent? Namor & Ariel? Donald & Howard the Ducks? Doc Strange vs Geenie? Wow... wow!!! You can order this cool ass print for just 14.99 by clicking here! Check out the full piece after the jump....

'The Star Wars That I Used To Know' by Teddie Films
Gotye's 'Somebody That I Used To Know' has been quite the big hit over the past 6 months... and it has also been the source of countless parodies, some corny and others even cornier. But if you try anything enough times, eventually things have to work out. This is definitely the case with Teddie Films version of the hit song, this one with a crazy Star Wars twist. Anybody who hates the prequels will absolutely love this... and even if you are a prequel apologist like my main man Jeff Bond (and me as well!!!) you will find it funny as well. All good fun. Now seriously, lets all hope Lucas is finished tinkering with the love of our lives...

Proof That There Is A God: Rachel McAdams Edition
I caught The Notebook (probably the best chick flick ever) on TV last night and was reminded of how hot I think Rachel McAdams is. She has a classic look to her and pulls of both blonde and brunette rather well. One of the things I love about her is the way she constantly revisits the styles of the olde time days, especially with her hairstyles. Plus she is the chick that tamed the Baby Goose... that means a lot here at CCD!!!! Pics after the jump....

Vampire Slayers Throughout History: An Infographic
Vampires are big right now... and whenever you have vamps, you are going to have vampire hunters. Even when vampires are portrayed as good, people are conditioned to think they are bad and try to kill them. That is just the way vampire stories go. So the gang over at Cheeszburger decided to collect all the critical data on the most famous vampire hunters throughout fiction. Suspiciously Abraham Lincoln was left off of this list. You would think with the current success of the Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter film he would be in there, but no... at least we get an appearance from Simon Belmont!!!! In Other News, Malcolm McDowell Just Don't Give A F@#K...
Malcolm McDowell is one of my favorite actors. He is one of those guys that has always caught my eye in every film he is in. I first remember seeing him in Time After Time, and then as a teen I discovered him in A Clockwork Orange & Caligula. And more recently I loved him in the Rob Zombie Halloween films as well as Gangster #1, which is one of the greatest gangster films ever made. I always loved Mr. McDowell, because the dude just brings it in every film.... but he also old now, and that means he just doesn't give a fuck about speaking candidly anymore! When people get old, they just seem to care less and less about being politically correct and what other people care about. While he sat down at the Hero Complex Film Festival with an LA Times writer at the 40th Anniversary screening for A Clockwork Orange for 15 minutes he went on to: Tell a story about Peter Sellers doing dope, talk about how he was unimpressed with Kubrick's genius, bashed The Avengers and other modern action movies, abused the Star Trek franchise and said just how much of favor he did Trekkies by killing Captain Kirk, abused Professor X's life, meeting Gene Kelly and just how fun the rape scene to Singing In The Rain was, and lamented the fact that he will never watch A Clockwork Orange again. All that in 15 minutes!!! I really love old people for the fact that they give way less than a fuck... and they are not afraid to tell you about it! Great interview all around. How A Movie Theater Should Be Laid Out In Real Life
I am one of those people who absolutely love attending movies at the theater. I love the popcorn, the fountain sodas, the loud speakers, the giant screen, the trailers for all the upcoming movies... I love everything about the movie going experience. Well... almost everything. One of the things that I hate is the fact that other patrons don't revere the movie going experience quite like I do, and they act very flippant about things like talking, using cell phones, and bothering others by constantly getting up. So how could you limit this from happening? The gang over at The Oatmeal have constructed the perfect movie theater, one that rewards the well behaved movie goer and punishes the inconsiderate. I would frequent this theater in a second!!! Check out the double paneled picture after the jump....

'The Prototype' - A New Film From The Bandito Brothers
The Bandito Brothers were responsible for one of the surprise action movie hits of last year, 'Act of Valor'. That movie featured real life Navy Seals as the actors, and because of that there was an extreme credibility & sincerity in the way it was executed. There next project is a very cool looking action flick called The Prototype, which features a human with robot elements that escapes his government handlers and is trying to evade capture. I love the look of the suit... it reminds me a lot of the 80's version of Snake Eyes from G.I. Joe. This is a teaser just meant to highlight the story and secure funding, so most (or all for that matter) of this footage wont even see the time of day. But this is definitely a great way to spend 3 and a half minutes... Thanks to Jedi rob for the assist!!! Video is embedded after the jump...

Super Modern Mario Brothers
Super Mario Brothers for Nintendo is one of the greatest games ever created, and it holds up quite well. While games have advanced over the years to the point that they are almost lifelike, the NES classic still holds up in terms of functionality and ability to hold a child's interest. But if the game was being released for the first time in this day and age, there would have to be some changes made. They could keep the side scrolling action, the Goomba & Koopa enemies, and the flagpole... but they would have to tweak things like what would happen to the enemies when you killed them, what powers the power-ups would give you, and how the hell a plumber from Brooklyn could slide down a 100 foot flagpole without a problem!!!! Check out the video from BM Studios called Super Modern Mario Brothers after the jump, and see just how great a new Mario release would be....

Reservoir Dogs by Ibraheem Youssef
I love alternate movie posters, probably because of the fact that the majority of movie posters put out officially these days suck. They do not take the time to create a witty, thought provoking image that is representative of an aspect of the film... nope, now most of the time we get a bunch of floating heads and slanted backgrounds (why is this so popular now?). Gone are the days of painted images, iconic posters, and important artistic contributions... but the Internet has brought those days back, albeit in a non official capacity. Ibraheem Youssef has some killer work on his website from a plethora of films, but the one that stood out to me had to be his Reservoir Dogs poster, so that is the one I chose to focus on featuring today. Make sure you check out his work by clicking here, and click after the jump for the Reservoir Dog piece...

'The Newsroom' Is The Reason To Watch TV This Summer
Last night I tuned into HBO's newest original program, 'The Newsroom'. The show comes from the mind of Aaron Sorkin, and boasts an all star cast with the likes of Jeff Daniels, Emily Mortimer, Allison Pill, Olivia Munn, Dev Patel, and Sam Waterson. I was vaguely interested in the show, but I didn't have it as a must see on my agenda. I figured I would catch up to it eventually on DVR or On Demand. But last night after 'True Blood' ended and 'The Newsroom' was set to begin, I decided to tune in and see how it would go on the first night. What a great decision!!!!! The show was fantastic... without a doubt it opened with one of the greatest opening scenes ever and just continued to steamroll as the show went on. I was engrossed with the characters, the acting was spectacular (especially from Daniels as the gruff news anchor & Pill as the bubbly young assistant), and the shows writing shined brightly. All of this splashed against the backdrop of the BP oil spill... wow, just wow. I loved everything about this show and I can't wait to see how this first season plays out. My one disappointment from the first show? Had to be the fact that my Asian pear Olivia Munn did not appear in the first episode... but she will be coming up a lot in the next few episodes and I can't wait. Given the fact that 'True Bood' has fallen off and I didn't have much on the docket for this summer when it comes to TV, I am glad that 'The Newsroom' has come along to fill the void. lets see how it all plays out!!!! Please enjoy the opening scene after the jump.... if this does not get you hooked in, I don't know what will.

Image Avalanche #16 by Cal From The Cave of Cool
My man Cal is genuinely concerned about the comment situation here at CCD. In his latest email to me in which he sends me his awesome Image Avalanche collections Cal stated that I should post them but "...I understand if you don't...since they are not really burning up the comments file!". Jesus people, you guys are making me look bad!!! My Canadian Correspondent gets quite a few comments on the posts that he does over at his Cave of Cool. He is used to get feedback from people. But over here at CCD, you guys seem to be to cool for school when it comes to leaving a few thoughts or words of encouragement. I have made my peace with it a long time ago, but now it is effecting my staff of collaborators and I must stand up for the integrity of the site!!!! Lets get it together and please leave Cal some thoughts so that he can keep these awesome image collections coming. If not he might head North of the border forever!!! 'The Shining' Sculptures May Be Creepy Than The Original People In The Movie... Maybe!!!
The Shining is one of the creepiest movies ever created, a pure horror classic from the genius mind of Stanley Kubrick. It is one of the first horror movies to cross over to the mainstream and is always on the top of peoples 'Greatest Horror Movies...' lists. One of the things that makes it so spooky for me has to be the look of the characters. When the film starts the three members of the Torrance family seem to be pretty normal... and way I say normal I mean in appearance as well as mental state. But as they spend more and more time at the Overlook Hotel the family begins to unravel in both of those aspects. By the end of the film the characters look horrific and make it even harder for us to ignore the traumatic experiences they have just gone through... Enter sculpture Clare Monaghan and her ability to recreate this haggard look of the Torrances from the end of the film in her busts. These are just so detailed and weird. Great find by the gang over at Super Punch. You can see detailed pictures of each individual bust after the jump...

Planet of the Vampires... Prometheus Style!!!
Planet of the Vampires is a little known Italian gem of a film from director Mario Bava. Even though it may not be very popular among regular people today, the film holds a special place in the hearts of many filmmakers that watched it when they were younger and adopted styling from the film. One of these directors was Ridley Scott, who frequently has cited Planet of the Vampires as a style touchstone for his films Alien & Prometheus. So of course it was only a matter of time before some enterprising videographer would mash up the two and give us a cool faux trailer. Freakstorm 2 has done just that, mashing up footage from Planet of the Vampires with the audio from the Prometheus trailer... very cool stuff. Check out the full video after the jump.

Judge, Jury, & Executioner: The Dredd 3D Trailer Is Finally Here!!!
When I was growing up I often sought out forms of rarer forms of familiar entertainment that was offered. While most kids were content watching Freddy & Jason American horror movies, I was familiarizing myself with the Hammer catalouge of horror movies from England. When kids were playing Dungeons & Dragons, I purchased and had my friends playing the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle role playing game. And when it came to comics, my favorites were all over the map. Following the lead of some of the older kids at my local comic shop I began reading 2000 AD, and the main storyline in the British mag is Judge Dredd. What a great book... from the first time I read the stories of Mega City, I was hooked. Rampant crime, drugs, and violence engulf Mega City, and it is up to the Judges of the Hall of Justice to keep it all together. Judge Dredd is the best of the best, and he kicks some major ass. We got a pretty campy movie in 1995 from Sylvester Stallone, and while that movie was campy and fun it was very hard to buy Rocky as JD. But now we are getting a second chance at a film reality, with the new Dredd 3D that stars Karl Urban. Urban seems to have gotten the mannerisms and tone of the character down, and the film looks pretty action packed so far. Throw in the sexy ass Olivia Thirlby, and I am in. There is no firm release date yet, but one should be coming soon. You can check out the exclusive first trailer of the film after the jump.

The 1975 Fantastic Four Radio Show... Featuring Bill Murray?
Thanks to my main man Joe Fletch I was sent a really cool link to the Youtube page of Mr. Walther PPK that features numerous episodes of the long forgotten Fanatsic Four radio show from 1975. These stories are often word for word read from the pages of the comic books, and there is some really cool stories here featuring characters like Sub Mariner, Ant Man, and many others. But one of the coolest things has to be the casting of a pre-Saturday Night Live Bill Murray to voice the Human Torch! This is an added plus, but truth be told all the voices bring a great set of stories to the audio ear... this is a great way to acclimate younger children to comics and build up their familiarity with the characters for the future. You can watch all the episodes by clicking here (25 episodes in all), and after the jump you can see Part I & II of Attack of the Mole Man featuring Mr. Ghostbuster himself....

Lego Arcade & Lego Arcade 2 by Michael Hickox
I have been on a bit of a Lego kick lately, probably because I have not been getting my usual "Lego Iconic" fix from Mr. Jeff Bond (get back to work brother!!!!). I came across this wonderful stop motion video called "Lego Arcade" and its sequel 'Lego Arcade 2' over at Topless Robot on one of their countdowns, and I was thoroughly impressed with both of them. Michael Hickox recreates some 80s arcade classics such as Pacman, Tron, Galga, Dig Dug, Centipede, Space Invaders and quite a few other by using Lego pieces and filming them making the moves of the respective games. Pretty great stuff that brings back a lot of memories of my local arcade, The Bow Wow in Howard Beach, NY. My favorite part of the videos has to be the sound effects... so perfect! 'The Gate' - A Short Sci Fi Film by Matt Westrup
Matt Westrup is a talented young director who is about to see his stock rise dramatically. Westrup created 'The Gate', a short Sci Fi film that extols the dangers of the pharmaceutical industry and what could happen if things got out of control. Now rumors are circulating that the short has been optioned for a full length feature, in a similar vein to how a short film led to District 9 becoming a reality. God I hope this is true, because this short is memorizing and I think this could be a great story. If you are a fan of films like Splice, District 9, and other sci fi films, you will love this. We will keep an eye on this one, but for now enjoy the short after the jump....

Game of Thrones is heavy on sex and nudity... that is not necessarily a surprise to anyone who watches the show. But I really had no idea how much nudity occurred until I saw this crazy supercut video from the Huffington Post. F@#k You Lego... Just F@#k You Very Much!!!!
Legos have been around forever (since 1949), but for the most part they were pretty uniform for the majority of those 60 years. Regular square & rectangle pieces of different sizes made up the majority of the sets, and you were left to try and make magic happens with some very basic shaped pieces. But as my boy Cal over at the Cave of Cool & CCD's resident Lego enthusiast Jeff Bond have pointed out on many occasions, these are not your Daddy's Legos. They have been stepping it up with crazy shaped pieces, play sets, collaborations with popular comic & movie properties, and Lego figures that have allowed the possibilities of creations to become endless. It is like Lego is saying "Haha... fuck all you old people" and rewarding the youngsters with more & more cool shit. Case in point: Lego plans on releasing a Haunted House. And not just any Haunted House... a classic Universal Studios type Haunted House, with things like a gramophone, a fireplace with a ship in a bottle, a desk for Dracula to write letters, and a FUCKING ZOMBIE CHEF!!!! Are you kidding me??? Check out this video and watch in awe at what Legos have become... well played, Legos, well played!!!!

The Huntress & The Huntress Returns by Carlos Valenzuela
I love me some Deviant Art, and you do come across some really cool things when perusing the things that are posted on there. One of the cool things I came across this week comes to us from Chile, in the way of artist Carlos Valenzuela. He has created two awesome vintage movie posters for films that would have featured pin-up superstar Marilyn Monroe facing off against the the classic Universal Monsters. Check out the posters for The Huntress (Monroe takes on Drac, Wolfman, and Frankenstein) and The Huntress Returns (with Monroe taking on The Creature from the Black Lagoon). Pretty great stuff in the rest of his portfolio as well. You can see more from Valenzuela by clicking here and you can see the two Huntress posters after the jump...

V/H/S Hopes To Bring Back The Golden Age of Horror Anthology Films
As an 80s baby I miss the days of the horror anthology. At the time we were lucky enough to be blessed with numerous horror anthologies on both TV and on the big screen. TV shows like Tales From The Darkside, Tales From The Crypt, Friday the 13th: The Series, and The Outer Limits were on the air scaring the shit out of me with a different story every episode. Movies like Creepshow 1 & 2, Cat's Eye, Two Evil Eyes, Body Bags, and film versions of Tales From the Darkside/Crypt all brought the scares to the movie theater and took that extra step that the TV counterparts couldn't pull off. But for a while, horror anthologies went by the wayside. It wasn't until 2007's Trick R' Treat (a favorite of Jeff & I here at CCD) that a meaningful horror anthology hit the screen, and by was it a doozy! That film started the ball rolling on a few more recent projects like Chillerama and even the Grindhouse movie from Tarantino/Rodriguez (when pairing the two movies with the faux trailer mini movies, you get anthology). But now we have a film that is promising to bring it all full circle, and some of Horror's best young talented writers & directors are hoping to make it happen. V/H/S comes to us courtesy of Ti West (House of the Devil), and he is accompanied by talents like Adam Wingard, David Bruckner, Joe Swanberg, and the guys of Radio Silence in this found footage anthology... and boy does this Red Band Trailer look insane!!! The film hits on October 5th. Check out the trailer after the jump...

Honest Movie Trailers: Avatar
With all the fallout that Prometheus is causing between people who like it and people who hate it, one thing is certain: Even if the movie may be illogical or not the bets at explaining shit, it is head and shoulders a better movie than the shitstorm known as Avatar. In order to prove this point, the gang over at Screen Rant & Honest Movie Trailers has finally broken down and decided to take on Avatar, and it is just as hilarious as I would imagined it to be. Pretty funny stuff, and once you watch this it will probably make you feel less bad about the Prometheus plotholes that have been driving you nuts.... Check out the video after the jump.

It's Not My Wrestling, But Damn The WWE Still Put On A Great Event!!!
When I was a child of the 80's I became enthralled with the world of the WWF. I loved wrestling so much that it even eclipsed my love for Star Wars, He Man or any of the other cartoons/movies/toys that I loved as kid. I had all of the hard platic toys, a fake belt... shit I even went to a few Wrestlemania's live in my day!!! but when I hit my late teens/early twenties and started college, I kind have faded away from the whole world of professional wrestling. It is not that the product of the WWF (and later renamed the WWE) had lost its mojo... quite the contrary. It had became more popular than ever. But it just wasn't for me. I know plenty people who stuck with it over the years (whatup Joe Esq!) and I have heard that the product itself has gone up and down over the years... but one thing I never thought would happen would be me being sucked back into the world of professional wrestling. But that is exactly what happened last night, thanks to my 9 year old son Mikey who has become even more obsessed with the sport than I ever was...

Game of Thrones: The Rom-Com
Game of Thrones, can be called a lot of things, but I never thought it could be called a rom-com. Sure there is a ton of sex & inappropriate relationships, and at times life in Westeros can be a humorous place at times in the books... but a rom-com? Well, if you take a few of the scenes from the hit HBO show and add the music of Carly Rae Jespen (Call Me, Maybe is the catchiest fucking song ever... EVER!!!!) and you would be surprised just how much like Friends the show can be!!! The highlight has to be the look that Brienne & Jaime share when they are confronted in the woods. That is so cliche.... and yet totally unnoticed when I watched it this season. Plus the credits are awesome... just awesome! Good job by the gang over at Twin Vortex. Check out the full trailer after the jump....

Happy Munn-Day!!!!
It's that time again... Munn-Day baby!!! This is when we celebrate our lovely Asian obsession, Olivia Munn. Today we are catching her in the early stages of Summer in NYC, there to promote her new HBO show 'Newsroom'. While in town, she has to jog to keep that rock hard body in shape. So thankfully there was a slimy stalker photog there to caoture her in her barely there t shirt and booty shorts. God love these perverts for sitting outside of hotels and waiting for a celeb to come out to exercise. They are doing God's work. Check the pics after the jump....

'The Gastronomicon: Blog Of The Fed' - The Best Food Geeky Blog On The Planet
I love to eat delicious food. I am someone who love to cook. And I love me some creativity, especially geek orientated creativity, when reading a blog/cookbook/recipe for my next culinary challenge. So when I came across 'The Gastronomicon: The Blog of the Fed' on the Internet, my mind was blown because all three of those qualifications were immediately met. The header photo of the blog is a pizza shaped like The Book of the Dead, the Necronomicon, from the Evil Dead movie series. They had me at hello... but then I found some great recipes on the blog for all types of cool, shit like Pad Thai, and a gingerbread helicopter. Pretty fucking cool. This is a young blog that has just started, but I am looking forward to whatever they have to offer. Keep cooking baby!!! Check out the photos of the Necronomicon pizza right after the jump...

'Murder University' - A Trailer For A New Movie That Is A True B Movie
My friendship with Sean Hartter has be one of the coolest things to come out of creating this blog. I set out to share things that I liked that I came across on the Internet, and one of my earliest discoveries had to be the awesome faux 'alternate universe' movie posters of Hartter's. Once I posted his stuff, I became more and more enthralled with his overall work and then we began to dialogue and became friends. He even created a cool ass piece of faux VHS box art for us here at CCD. Part of the reason why I like my man Sean so much is because he is always involved in some quality projects and collaborations. So when he posted that he was teaming up with Scorpio Film Releasing to produce posters, artwork and music for some of their movies, I immediately became psyched. SFR is all about capturing the look and feel of 70s Grindhouse B movies, and Hartter is doing a great job capturing that with his one sheets and scores of the films. Check out the preview for their latest movie, Murder University, after the jump. Stay tuned for more release details and more work from Sean in the future. Keep the good stuff coming Mr. Hartter...

That Guy Ray Bradbury Seemed To Know What He Was Talking About When he Was Writing Science "Fiction"
Ray Bradbury passed away last week and I am a dick because I never took a second to pay him proper tribute. Bradbury is responsible for a litany of literary classics, most notably in the Sci Fi genre. His best known works would probably be The Martian Chronicles, The Illustrated Man, and one of my all time favorite books Fahrenheit 451. But after he passed away, lots of other more responsible/respectable sites (we suck here at CCD...sorry!!!) ran cool stories in tribute to Mr. Bradbury. One of the best ones that I saw had to an infographic of all the predictions that Ray Bradbury made in his books that ended up coming true in real life. In sci fi people take chances when they "predict" what technology will come in the future, but it seems like my man Ray had much more than a hope when constructing his ideas of what technology in the future would look like. Well played Mr. Bradbury!!! Take a look at the infographic after the jump and if you have never read a Bradbury book put it onto your to do list ASAP....

Lego Inception by VFX
I love opening my email box and finding something cool from my homies. Especially if it is a cool ass video that shows a recreation of the movie Inception made entirely of Lego's!!!! Thanks to my man Joe Fletch we get this phenomenal video from the VFX team that hits on all the highlights of Nolan's masterpiece, but does it with those little yellow guys that we all know and love. Some of this is almost as spectacular as the original.... just a bit more SQUARE!!! Check out the video after the jump....

OHC of the Day: Caity Lotz
Caity Lotz is the prototypical OHC. For one, she is certainly obscure. Obscure means that you probably don't know her, but she is vaguely familiar to you because you have probably seen her somewhere before. She has appeared on mainstream shows such as Mad Men & Law and Order, as well as genre fare such as MTV's Death Valley. And she is definitely a Hot Chick. A super f'n hot chick. I love that she has freckles and that she doesn't always use makeup to cover them up. Plus she seems to be very comfortable in a wife beater and panties, sans a bra... which is always a plus!!!! She is such a prototypical California Girl in every sense of the word, with the legs that are never ending and the hair as blond as gold. When Jeff Bond sent me this suggestion, her name was familiar to me because I have been hearing some good things from her latest horror film called The Pact that will co-star Casper Van Dien. The film is getting meh reviews, but everyone is loving Caity's performance... and why wouldn't they? Lotz also has a ensemble film called Live At The Foxes Den (co starring Elliot Gould, Jackson Rathbone, and Pooch Hall) & a mysterious project called Planet B Boy with Lost's Josh Holloway (this one sounds interesting). Given her start as a back up dancer for Lady Gaga, I am sure she will hold her own alongside Sawyer himself. Enjoy the photos after the jump....

The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Gets An Update....
One of the greatest memories of my comic reading childhood come from thumbing copies of DC Comic's Who's Who & Marvel's Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe. These two series existed to drain cash from comic collectors like me, as all they did was act as an encyclopedia of all the characters (both minor & major) of the respective universes. It was great to read profiles about big name characters and find out little known facts about lesser known characters, and the best part was that they often listed the first appearance of the character. This was an important detail for collectors like me, as I often wanted to acquire a characters first appearance. It was like the Encyclopedia Britannica for geeks., just freaking wonderful. Now I stumbled upon a very cool NEW website from the guy who runs Cornered entitled The Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Reduxe Edition . On this site Calamity Jon is recruiting artists to submit their best recreations of an entry in the Marvel Handbook page by page until they have the whole thing redesigned. This is such a great idea, and so far there are 8 submissions. with many more to come. If you know any artists who you think would be great for this project, click here for the submission guidelines. You can see my 3 faves after the jump...
Max by Floriane Marchix
My undying love for Maurice Sendak & 'Where The Wild Things Are' is very apparent to all the people who frequent CCD, as well as anybody who knows me all that well. The home screen on my Xoom tablet is the classic scene with Max sitting under the tree and Carol bowing to him... one of the most priceless images in the history of children's books. God I regret the fact that I never got to meet Sendak and just say "Thank you..." for all the memories I have gotten out of that book. Apparently lots of other people are saddened by Sendak's recent death. A very cool website from New Zealand called Travisty's Beard had a tribute month during May to Sendak, and some of the pieces submitted were great. But the one that stood out to me the most has to be 'Max' by artist Floriane Marchix. Just a perfect compliment to Sendak. R.I.P. Mr. Sendak, you were the wildest thing of all... Check out the full size pic after the jump.

Super Mario & The Human Centipede by TLTL
Mario is a very familiar character from the most popular video game franchise on the planet. Even non gamers can pick him out of a lineup. So naturally he and his Mushroom World brethren are popular targets for fan art & videos all over the Internet. The gang over at Too Lazy Too Live have decided to take Mario in a place that I never thought I would see him go... into the world of The Human Centipede!!! This video is absolutely batshit insane, and very well done. Plus, the video game animation is pretty stunning. I really like the way the Goomba's look. Check out the video after the jump...

Paper Prometheus by Travis Betz
Prometheus is still causing the Internet to explode with controversy over whether it was a great film or a lackluster piece of shit filled with plot holes, but whether you liked it or not it is certainly on the top topics list for this week. Since it is so hot right now, there are a ton of cool Prometheus related tidbits floating around the Interwebs. One of the coolest ones that I have seen this week comes from Travis Betz, and it is a recreation of the Prometheus trailer... done completely in paper mache!!!! This is just wonderful, and considering that most people thought that the trailer for Prometheus was awesome (whether they liked the movie itself) I thought Travis did an excellent job recreating it. Fun stuff.... check out the full video after the jump.
